And then lost to Swansea?

Oh and West Brom.

Certainly not a great game to watch, and we got the draw away from home.

We do seem very disjointed still at times, and certainly in that midfield area. Pogba certainly looked more comfortable with the ability to push on from midfield and link the play together.

Im confident to beat Seville at home and get to the next round.

Not really a consideration, said the start of the season I’d expect 2-3 English teams in the semis but we wouldn’t be one of them.
But the only thing that’s consistent about this united team is the inconsistency in how they play ,so you never know.

I'm not sure you can hark back to Fergie's days for what to do in Europe. I remember one of the only criticism of him was that he was unable to replicate his incredible domestic form abroad.
That was a combination of an exceptional domestic record and Barca (we lost in 2 finals to them)

If they did win it, it would be a shocker akin to Porto winning it. 200Mph Club is a positive thinker though.

always. everyone writes off Jose, all the time, however here we are still 2nd in the league, in the FA cup, knockout stages CL, and he has trophies in the bag already at Old Trafford, plus will be supported financially going forward. the balance isnt right yet by a long way, but hes no mug and hes not afraid to drop people and chop and change things to win. I like him in that respect, however he and many others are treading in fergies footsteps, he managed to do it all with attacking flair as well! :-)

part of me thinks Jose could also easily end up in the final by a combination of fate and dogged determination. realistically the team is still lacking quality in a couple of areas, any trophy at all like last year is a bonus thats not expected just yet.
These are the likely Quarter Finalists

Real Madrid
Barcelona
PSG
Bayern Munich
Man City
Liverpool
Tottenham
Man Utd

Who do you guys think you could beat over 2 legs from that list either through fate or dogged determination?

It's going to be tough for everyone/anyone though. It's one of the strongest probable last eight I'v seen in many a year.

at the minute avoiding City and PSG, over 2 legs in the CL i think any of the others are beatable. some of the games might be horrific however in terms of flair lol

one thing to add, i wont be suprised or disappointed if we dont win a thing this season, they arent clicking fully, we've had some great performances and some dire ones also. a top 4 finish and CL football again, and a shout at the FA Cup would suffice this time.

Real and PSG are both going through from their knockout game?
Roma and Shakhtar Donetsk are both getting knocked out from their matches?

In terms of those, pretty much any team can beat any other team on their day, so who knows. None of the teams that are in the quarters will be easy to beat. I’d expect there to be at least one all PL tie in the draw too, no matter how many PL teams get through.

So, if somehow all the PL teams get knocked out or if only 1 makes it through, you'd expect an all PL tie in the draw?

Just pointing out mistakes like you did, not after an answer.

  • Brain fart* hehe
I'm not sure the revised list is any better though but I'd say Roma (if they get through) are who everyone would prefer in the Quarters.

Serious question then, how long do you put up with it? The fans to their credit have been behind mourniho from the start, as have the board but there does seem to be a growing acceptance that as most have us been saying all along the football is st, it cant be fun to follow as you are saying.

It doesn't matter how much he spends he will never play attractive football, which is fine when he's racking up trophies but when he isnt then what?

Also the elephant in the room which im surprised no one is talking about Jose / Pogba, there's clearly an issue its not as has been previously suggested just abu's and paper talk. There's more to it than that.

Is it fine whilst he's racking up trophies? I'm not sure he'll ever win the Champions League or Premier League playing such dull, defensive football and will it be OK for fans if he wins a few League Cups, FA Cups and the odd Europa League whilst playing such uninteresting football?

But he's won titles and CL's in the past at multiple clubs with this brand of football.

Its proven to be highly effective.

You’re going to get an answer mistakes I pointed out were highly relevant to the discussion. The technicality you’ve posted is irrelevant.

At least two teams are definitely going through, City and Liverpool, unless you think the teams that got walloped at home are suddenly going to turn into goal machines away from home. Spurs look good value too with their away goals, United have a half decent chance at home, but a 0-0 away draw isn’t ideal. Chelsea look quite unlikely, but not impossible.

If less than 3 PL teams go through I’d be amazed, if less than two then I’ll pay a charity of your choice £1,000.

  • Providing the club is the most financially powerful in it's respective league.

Well it was last year and they all seemed perfectly happy with that so i am assuming the same would apply.

Man u knew what they were getting when they got mourinho, crap football + trophies, my question (because i think it will happen this season) is what happens when its just crap football.

If it is a sustained period (read 2 or 3 years), with just crap football, and no trophies, that will be a signal for him to go, or more likely, he might be go himself. A couple of seasons with no trophies, crap football and no CL qualification would also likely do it.
