I guess you had to be there.
I’m not sure getting on the players backs is the answer. Chelsea were decent in the first 30 but after that I thought we were largely the better team.
Chelsea were all over us for nearly all of the first half. They weren’t just “decent”, they could’ve been out of sight before we’d even had a shot at goal. We were poor and our negative approach doesn’t work. It took the goal from them to wake us up and the second half was a vast improvement. However, if they hadn’t scored when they did I could see that game having gone a long way at 0-0 with us always at risk of conceding rather than scoring. We still got the result, but the performances since the turn of the year have been poor IMO and we seem to be regressing towards to LVG style,of play, rather than making attacking progress. There is still no fear factor about us and teams enjoy getting stuck in as they know it rattles us.
All we need to do is move. We stand about like statues. Look at City in the second half today, they’ve moved constantly off the ball and that movement creates space for goals.

How have we “given up”? We’re in second place now. We won today, that means the gap will either stay the same or reduce, when City play that game in hand that they have form this round of matches. We’re just saying it’s still a losing position, you don’t get a trophy for finishing second, so it doesn’t matter.
Or did you think for some reason that we lost?
ORD said we were a shambles, when we have caught up around 8 points in a few months. Yet we were not the ones slipping back towards the chasing group, despite being the closest challangers to City. And if you say no point in trying once you see it is unlikely then it could explain your performances? I'd always want my team to do as well as possible, not just stop bothering because they didn't get first. Or did you think for some reason that we lost?
You can say we had a poor start to the season - but not now. You lot had a good start, and are now generally worse. It's why the gaps have changed like they have.

Although they are losing, Arsenal are showing that City are only as good as you allow them to be. It’s a 50/50 game for me, which is saying something.
You may want to think a little before posting next time chap Gavia said:

You state this as though it is something that just 'happens'. It all has to be coached by the manager surely, where to move and run, when to move and run, when to press, when to give a bit of space ... Pep has coached this into the City players. United's players don't actually seem to have got any better under Maureen.Playing against a poor Arsenal team made them look very, very good today, instead of just very good.
You guys got the results today but it should maybe have been a draw - Chelsea settled for the point way too early. Some teams just aren't adventurous enough when the scores are level. They're one of them (esp away). I think City would attack, home or away, against anyone. Mindset.

United don't look like they’ve given up to me. We’re not playing well, but we won. We’ve had some poor results in the league recently, but we’re still in second, so not sure what your point is. We can’t win the league this season, nor can anyone other than City. However, the reality is that finishing 2nd, 3rd or 4th makes little difference. All places are losers, but all get CL football the following season.
I have to say, it matters to me. Point was it is difficult to call us a shambles since Christmas when we have been catching up approximately 1.5 wins a month extra compared to you. When you'd hope that you'd try and put any possible pressure on City in case they had a meltdown. They haven' t, but that wasn't known.
Anyway, best to discuss the game more rather than this rubbish!

Classic JM performance today and a deserved three points in the end.
Lukaku really starting to look the business again in recent weeks, I think that's 22 already fro the season, His best seasons at Everton were 25 and 26 so on schedule to top that quite easily.

Wouldn't disagree although, I don't believe they would have been out of sight. They hit the bar but that was it. Anyway I do agree that we need far more movement out of the front 3, even if 2 of them make runs and swap places it means they are having to make defenders think and wonder if to track or keep in position. They want to take it in to feet too much with back to goal, we need to play more on the 1/2 turn for me. With better balls in behind. We still got the result, but the performances since the turn of the year have been poor IMO and we seem to be regressing towards to LVG style,of play, rather than making attacking progress. City get runners from midfield carrying the ball at pace, they are then looking for that forward movement. I think our midfield is a little too laboured at times and so the strikers stop moving too. This is why we need to release Pogba as he can do the carrying and spot intelligent movement, has the deftness of touch and range of passing to exploit the movement. The key to all this could be McTominay alongside Matic. I think Jose likes him and if McT offers the defensive side JM will release Pogba. I don't think JM fully trusts Herrera.

Nice thing to do - makes the day/year of the person he gives it to, and they'd just be thrown away otherwise.
Some of the family stand kids make their way to the tunnel entrance 10 mins before the end. JM normally gives his notepad to one of them. My little man has had a high five off a couple of the players. A few of the kids of the dads I know have come away with gloves, sweatbands and one of them once got Depay's shirt handed to him.The away teams sometimes give high fives and their shirts away too.
