Whisper on Twitter is we've bid £80m for "someone".
Probably nothing but made me think, what would £80m get you today?

It clearly won't get you a Hazard, Neymar or Messi.
It should get you a 'first 11' player though, an instant improvement in almost any position?

I would have thought Kante was at least 50% more than that surely?
Transfer fees are weird. There is no doubt Kante's worth to any team is enormous in terms of what he brings, but the marketing side of it is also huge and he doesn't seem to be high profile in that sense. It would certainly take a massive fee to make Chelsea think of selling (especially if Hazard and Courtois are also iffy right now), but the lack of commercials would probably mean that such a high fee doesn't work for the beancounters of the buying club, even when the actual playing value to the team is far higher than others going for similar fees.If we go for 80m for Perisic now, after dicking about over 50m last summer then someone needs firing.
It's actually quite refreshing having not many rumours for us, and certainly the lack of the Ronaldo summer will he / wont he is great. Means we might actually get some suprises and as a club we are actually keeping things in house again. Or it could mean we have nothing happening too, which would make things interesting

The money for transfers is irrelevant to me now it's become like Monopoly money. As a fan my season ticket is again £796. Same price for at least 5 years now. 2 beers 2 pies or hotdogs and 2 packets of crisps was £13 last season and that's been the same for a similar period. My tv bill is now probably more than tickets....
Silly season will start tomorrow though! Mbappe please Ed.
I'm sure the rumours will now get silly

Definitely keeping things in house. Very little is getting out. If we go for 80m for Perisic now, after dicking about over 50m last summer then someone needs firing.
