Tweaks to the squad were needed. Could be more yet to come I reckon and a few other departures. I'm quite looking forward to the new season. Any improvement in league position would see us champions of course! altho last year wasn't trophy winning I took satisfaction from us beating many of the top 6 for once along the way including City. We just need some attacking bite alongside Lukaku somehow.

I thought Pogba played pretty much the same for France as he does for Utd, just with the benefit of more counter attacks to use his power and passing.

Many people are so caught up in the narrative that he has under-performed that facts no longer matter.
Said this to my dad this morning...being surrounded by Kante and Matuidi being the defensive side helped a lot. With Matic and Fred doing that this year I think we will see more of the end results without the lambasting every time he loses the ball. He lost it a few times in the WC as well, but Kante/Matuidi/Defender got it right back avoiding any groans and moans. His long passes through to Mbappe and Griezman we have seen plenty of times...but for us last year our wide players cut back and held up the play...Mbappe and Griezman would just continue running down the channels stretching the defenders out of position.

Our RW can easily be filled by Martial/Rashford (assuming Sanchez sits on the left) if they are prepared to track back and help defend...and with time and space to distribute Pogba will 9/10 find the target.

Anyway...lets see what happens in the shortest of silly seasons!

Agreed. I'd like him to do some sprint training with the likes of Usain Bolt. He's deceptively slow at times. Does lose possession and then jumps in the air arms aloft. nono Cut that st out! Other than that I'm delighted with him.

Not really much happening on the transfer window, unless I've missed anything?

In

Fred - £52m
Lee Grant - free
José Diogo Dalot Teixeira - £17.4m

Out

Daley Blind £14.1m
Michael Carrick - retired
Sam Johnstone £6.5m

Net summer spend - £48.8m.

All fairly quite rumour wise.

Others seem a fair bit more active.

Yep thats it so far

Lots of loose links to CB's (Maguire, Bonucci, Alderweiereireld)
Some links to RW (Bale, Willian, Lozano)
LB (Sandro still being talked about)

Thats about it

The CAF are hilariously going nuts about it all

Main thinking seems to be barring CB's there isnt a huge amount of value in the market/available players plus we have a couple of very promising youngsters in the wings

Personally I think the Sandro deal is on hold until Jose sees how Shaw is pre season. From the pictures he looks in the shape of his life and finally getting his st together!

I'd be happy with Maguire or Alderweireld coming in and thats it tbh. Give the young lads a few games smile

youve fallen into the tabloid united trap, quote all purchases at the maximum price if all targets in contract met, quote all our sales price a the minimum price e.g Blind is £14m rising to 18m depending on stuff etc etc.

Shaw is a good player if its a case of getting fit and staying at UTD if you was him you would have had a dietician and PT with you all summer to get you in shape ready for pre season...

Jesus, ever heard of a full stop? wink

From the pictures going around and official ones from the tour, he looks in great shape.

If I were Mou, I would have told Shaw that he will be sold the moment he gets chubby or gets pissed. No point being subtle with him - he’s lazy and extremely stupid.

or he can just wait to see how he gets treated and how he's playing upto Christmas then can pick where he wants to go as he is out of contract and United get nothing. Not exactly stupid.

He's a fantastic talent. He's been very unlucky with injuries and a few years ago he had the wrong voices in his ear. His fitness isn't in question finally and he spoke with a maturity yesterday that offered hope he's going to deliver.

Not sure he has enough talent to make up for extremely low intelligence, but we’ll see. His statistics are astonishingly bad.
