I think he loves playing with the media. He's serious no doubt about getting the job done, that's something that excites me as a Utd fan. This tournament has been a problem in terms of prep but that was always happening in a world cup year. It's compounded by lots of our players being involved in the last 4 games. It is what it is.
His usual MO is once he realises either the job is too hard or he is losing favour he will work out his escape route, ending with him alienating the team, management, fans and generally slagging off the team - it was everybody else's fault etc.

How can the job be hard, everyone on here can do it!

It's a results business, end of story. But Jose doesn't seem capable of still wanting to learn about the game and progress, he hasn't improved tactically in my view since he has been with you lot. He falls back on what has got him where he is - which to him makes snese, but the game has moved on. I'd be surprised if you were in the top two this season. Top four is possible - like any of the top six (or slightly below if one of them is off colour)

Yes, Without doubt he would.
Really?

He's been on record on a number of occasions about how he really doesn't enjoy his media commitments but he certainly doesn't help himself by being so defensive. Pun intended!

I've been dipping into MUTV for the tour coverage and all does look positive until Jose is speaking to the media.

Mourinho has made a big point of your players being involved in the last 4 of the WC. However, it's pretty much the same for 3 other teams:

Chelsea - 5 players involved
ManU - 7
ManC - 7
Spuds - 9

From what I've seen of him, he wouldn't be a starter for us... not as good as Salah or Mane.

I think the point is under a more supportive attacking manager like klopp, poch, pep he'd become a better player.

He'd get into pretty much all of the other top 6 teams at his best imo.

No one's seen his absolute best though for any length of time. Just glimpses. I hope he turns into the finished article this season.

I think you'll only see that if he moves away from mourino

May be so, but all Jose is speaking about is Man United and our own preparations.

He's an enigma. I'm starting to think if we could make a profit on the deal why don't we get rid. There's a side of me that is inquisitive as to how he would perform under one of these so called "attacking" managers?

Martial, Shaw, Sanchez and Pogba are all not the same players they were when first arriving at Utd, they either need to find new clubs, or remove the negative, miserable control freak manager, that those same players don't appear to want to play for.

Sanchez was terrible last season but apparently has looked good in the pre-season. I am cautiously optimistic (despite saying last season that he was a pub team player, which I still think was accurate at the time).

Shaw has been a fat mess but might still sort himself out. I do not hold out much hope for him, but you never know. Nothing to do with Mou - Shaw was a mess long before he came on the scene.

Martial I think we can blame on Mou. He has not been treated well and has sulked (which reflects badly on him, I accept).

Pogba has been excellent for Utd. Don't get caught up in the media narrative - he was almost always our best player last season, and we rely on him more than any other team in the PL relies on a player (with the possible exception of Spuds and Kane).

Except Spurs actually score more goals when he's not playing - weirdly.

I couldn't believe him saying he needs more money to buy players. I thought at some point his mangerial expertise comes into play, he ain't no better than the previous two managers, in fact I think he's worse. I don't blame United's chairman Woodward questioning his demands.

And here come the WUMs. As much as I’m not keen on Mourinho he does clearly worry other teams fans who have to take every opportunity to have a dig. Unless you’re a City fan, then our st manager is better than your amazing one, as we finished above you in the PL last year.

He's working with half the players from LVG, Moyes and Fergies remnants. If he wants to change that then so be it the club back him or not

I'm not sure that's fair I don't think you'll find many fans of the rest of the top 6 wanting to swap managers with utd.

I think he was using proven results as opposed to internet forum "hearsay". Jose has already won more trophies than any other top 6 manager in the Prem other than Pep during his Utd stint as far as I'm aware plus 2nd place.

Nobody's kicked a ball in anger yet and people are having a pop at Mourinho already. Whatever you think of him, he's box office and at the biggest football club in the world. I'm inclined to believe that he'll get it right (win the prem or ECL) but to expect him to do so straight away is naive in the extreme. He's keeping everybody, including Ed, on their toes.

Sure I'd like him to smile in public more, but I do see the pics of them in training where he's smiling and I hear that he's pretty happy with his lot. It's pretty clear at least to me that the pressers are some of the least enjoyable aspects of his job.
