What's the heart and soul of a PLC, exactly?
Let me help you: some clubs, and Utd are one, built their huge modern presence through hard work and success and fans all over the world loving them. Other clubs are plastic recent inventions, playthings of narcissist owners that tagged onto what were previously small and pointless but at least genuine clubs.City are in the second category. See also Chelsea.

If not being a 'plastic' club is all you can hang your hat on, you might need to look at what you regard as bragging rights.

So any of you United lot fancy coming over to the dark side and swapping your allegiance to City? I know anniesdad is giving it some serious thought.
I'd rather stick forks in my eyes. My grandad used to drag me to Maine Road (Kippax stand) when I was a kid, desperate for me to be a blue. I always wanted to go with my uncle to Old Trafford. I'll never forget the first time I set foot in Old Trafford. I'll never be a blue.

Fair enough. You are always welcome to pop in on our forum though anytime
I'll say this, If mathematically we couldn't do it and it was down to the two of you, I'd far rather you won the title than Liverpool any day. We have a shared responsibility to ensure they never (again) win the title. Frimley111R said:
Fundamentally I feel we are stuck as a top team (as in filling one of the top 6 places in the Prem) but we're showing no signs of improving. We're struggling to score and struggling not to concede. Its been like that for quite a while.
Hold me... Listen we have Derby tomorrow, let's beat them and progress in the Carabao and then we go again in the league. All we can do is look forward really.
I think JM does need to make a decision about Sanchez. Can't believe I'm saying this but it does look as though this period of a hangover he seems to be in shows no signs of abating. JM needs to be brave and make a decision either to play the ever lasting sulker and drop Sanchez or wait for Rashford to come back and play him on the left with Mata on the right.
Or go 3-5-2 and play Martial up with Lukaku.

He’s right, though - zero sign of any improvement at all. We are miles behind Liverpool and City already. Listen we have Derby tomorrow, let's beat them and progress in the Carabao and then we go again in the league. All we can do is look forward really.

As for Sanchez, if he wasn’t a big name, he never would have seen even half the games that he has. He’s unbelievably bad.

Saturday was a missed opportunity, yet again. But...we're 8 points behind, that's all. We need to go on a run and the teams at the top need to drop a few points which they will. That gap could soon close, we're still in September....As for Sanchez, if he wasn’t a big name, he never would have seen even half the games that he has. He’s unbelievably bad.
I've not given up yet.

Mata is NOT the answer on the right, we always come unstuck when he's out there as he's got no pace. He's a 10 all day long. The only realistic right sided "winger" we've got is Lingard!
Agree re Mata but here’s a wacky idea, why not play the right footed Martial on the right wing? He’s got enough pace and skill to beat the fullback and whip in crosses for Lukaku to meet. I know it’s not fashionable but surely it’s worth a go?57Ford said:

You didn't need Sanchez at all when you got him, I couldn't understand why you were desperate for him. There were other areas in which you should have strengthened first.
I suppose it meant Miki leaving which made things easier on that front but his wage demands were just crazy (and you fell for 'em) ...

I don't know what the answer is either from here. We've tried big signings, we've got a manager with one of the best records for winning trophies, we're still here in the chasing pack.
