I agree Sye. Didn't want to say anything at the time but I thought some of the guys in here were crazy to suggest you'd be fine without Toby and that he hasn't been missed because Sanchez has been utterly amazing.
As you know if a player wants out you need to let him go, obviously we're a better team with Toby but it sounds like he wants a huge contract and we won't offer that to an ageing defender.

I agree with Sye though, we mustn't sell him to any of the top 4.

I hope we keep him, perhaps with some massive performance bonuses or something?

Think all the decent players should get a bit of a bump in salary next season if we want to keep them, and entice better players to come and join the club by being able to offer better wages.

Not saying go full on City wage structure but I thought it had already been discussed that salaries were likely to increase overall?

I only saw highlights but it looked like City were getting in between your CB's so easy? just a simple ball seemed to beat them, and the gap between them seemed massive?
Our midfield was uncharacteristically AWOL which left the backline somewhat exposed. Dembele is great but he can't do it all himself.

Unlike some of my fellow fans I'm not convinced about Sanchez yet. He's often out of position having gone too far up the pitch and dived in to tackle and missed, his pace rescues him mostly (bit like Kyle Walker in that respect) but we really need some stability back in the spine of the team. Last year the back four and central midfield picked itself but with the comings and goings of personnel and the injuries we're just a bit too unsettled for my liking.

True his demands are massive, but surely someone like Levy could work out a deal. Maybe 120-150k with big bonuses for titles and cups?

You guys have made a small step backwards this season whilst ourselves, Utd and City have all taken steps forward. Yes, Sanchez might improve with age, but there's no guarantee of that. I'd say it would be more certain if he had someone like Toby to play alongside.

Okay mate apologies, thought when you were saying people were happy to let Toby go. None of us are happy or fine with that just accepting it's probably going to happen. Theres a difference.

And to say we've gone backwards before the season is even over is just silly, especially given the circumstances surrounding this season.

I am happy to let Toby go. In 2018 in the PL we have only lost to city and Toby hasn't played a single match.

He is a great player but just like when Bale was waiting for AVB every day in his office, if he wants out then see you later. I support the club and not the individual players especially when they want out. It becomes a cancer in the dressing room and I dare say Poch knows all about it from his playing days too according to his book.

I feel the same way, he has potential but currently his positioning is often terrible, pushing too far up and leaving acres of space behind him. On Saturday it was made worse by the fact that our whole defensive line seemed to catch this disease, you could have driven a bus through the gaps in our defense. City played at least 5 or 6 very simple balls right through the middle of our defense leaving them one on one with Loris and it was just their poor finishing that didn't make the scoreline embarrassing.

Someone said we played too deep, I thought the exact opposite, we were playing way too high. Were we trying to squeeze them up or play the offiside? Whatever it was it didn't work, wrong tactics and wrong team selection IMO. I know some people don't like a bad word said against Poch but that's twice he's got it completely wrong against City.

That's what I noticed from just the highlights... Your CBs were so far apart it was mental..a simple through ball and they were in easy

That's exactly was it was like, like I said no idea why we set up that way but we were leaky as a leaky thing.

You've just seen Liverpool show you how to play against City perfectly, twice, why not just copy that? You sat back, defended deep, soaked up the pressure and hit them on the counter. Spurs can counter quickly too and everyone knew City were going to come out all guns blazing after 3 defeats on the trot so why not setup to defend in depth, keep your midfield solid and hit them on the counter?

I know some of our players didn't have their best game but I didn't think they weren't terrible either. Not enough players in midfield, you need to crowd City and not give people like KDB any time on the ball or they will punish you. Our midfield was weak and our defense not solid enough. Like I said wrong tactics and wrong team selection, all IMO of course.

That's old news. He is asking for too long a contract for his age and Levy is being a Levy. It'll be a real shame if Dembele goes. He is a real workhorse and I'd say just as important as Kane IMHO.

Honestly our back line has been weakened; we've made serious mistakes all season long there. We've only done so well because we can pin the majority of teams in their own half using the back line as another option to shift play, but when attacked well we're not as strong as we were with toby and kyle; losing two big players in the back line and replacing them takes time, not convinced about aurier and sanchez yet, but I do keep reminding myself about recent history and how many players had poor or so-so first seasons and then came to fruition.
Poch knows it better than we plebs eh?

I'd like to think so. Although the whole Sissoko thing has me wondering...

I quite rate Poch along with Klopp and Rafa. Glad we don't have Moo or at the other end of the spectrum, BFS.

I forgot about Aurier. Probably a good thing. hehe

Has Sissoko ever had a good game?

I can’t remember one at Spurs.

No. He once held the ball in the corner to waste time. What a day that was.

Llorente had a killer game against Rochedale once too. Smashed them.
