No it doesn't sound like that was requested, the press release says the coaching staff had input in to the process and said it would be better to have an early home game in the season rather than start with a long sequence of away games.

Whether that's true or spin is another matter.

Also, of course, it means that by playing a game at Wembley we can have the ultimate Spursy irony of opening a brand new stadium that finishes second in the "Spurs home stadiums with largest attendances this season" league.

Dropping from £55-75m to £25k in 1 year for a player who is no longer critical won't wash with Levy.

He either signs a new contract or he'll be sold.

Personally happy if he signs, but not worried if he leaves.

Would love to see Bale return though.

All joking aside, tough opening game in a new stadium.

Obviously the fans will be up for it and the atmosphere will be great but a new stadium might take a few games to make home.

Probably means Fulham can't change because they and Chelsea can't play at home on the same day. Same as Spurs and Arseanal
