Hardly surprising even Lennon could cross a ball better than Walker.

Two pens and hit by a shot. He’s the best ever.
Harry practices being hit.

Surprised you didn't you hear about Eriksen hitting him on the shoulder earlier in the season.

Simples: Walker is bad; Dier is worse.

R2D2 coud cross better than Walker

His only saving grace to his game that when he gets himself into a pile of doodoo because of losing the ball, bad cross etc his speed get him out of it

He scored a good goal once ( against Everton i think at WHL and he hit it like Roberto Carlos nearly hit the corner flag befoe swerving in

Mind You i would have him above Aurier!!!!

Trippy has a much more rounded game than Walker.

Playing well for England too.

KT has been the best England player for me so far.

I hate to agree with Wenger, but I can see what he's on about.

That said, I think Walker makes more sense for me in a back 4, but no a 3.

I have a sneaking feeling that Kyle Walker will end up copying a previous Walker for England (Des)

Remember the song.......'you'll never beat Des Walker'......he lost a bit of confidence and half a yard of pace and that's basically what everyone started to do!!

I'd actually like to see Danny Rose in place of Ashley Young. I think Young hasn't done too much wrong in defence, but I think Rose gives us a bit more going forward and I suspect we will need that if we want to go much further in the competition.

Happy to join the KT circle jerk. I first sat up and took notice when he didn't give a st that he was playing against Real Madrid.

I think the match against Belgium will be the proving ground as Panama is hardly anything exciting. Southgate will be putting out a conservative team as the knives will be out back home when he fails. If he plays non city players and they fk it up then it is low hanging fruit for the media and we'll never hear the end of it.

He is lucky he has Kane and Trips to drag the team through. smile

I heard a brief interview with Southgate yesterday and clearly he's intending to change the team for Belgium.

I think Kane will either be rested or will play a smaller part. I think we could see 5 or 6 changes.

Rightly or wrongly he has the view that there are at least two players for each position in 'the system' but as we all know, it's never that straight forward and however much it's drilled into them, players will all play to their strengths and with a lot of changes, the set up and identity of the team will no doubt be different from what we have seen so far.

If we lose a bit of momentum and the game as a result, then it may be a price to pay to say to the media that it wasn't our best starting 11 and then you move onto the next game.

Whether we finish first or second, the next match will be more than winable.

Not wishing to over egg the England pudding just yet, but clearly none of the usual top sides are setting the world alight so far and this could well be the world cup that is won by one of the lesser fancied teams.

I mentioned this in the world cup thread, Southgate's interview before the Argentina game very strongly indicated that he intends to rotate the squad as all he talked about was I need to think about the whole squad and not individuals. For me this is a mistake, surely you put out your best 11 for every game then change 2-3 players if things are going well. It gives the best 11 a better chance to gel with the opportunity to tweak a couple of positions if they are not working.

He seemed quite determined to protect the feelings of the whole squad, sorry but this is the World Cup and they are allegedly all professionals, trying to protect the feelings of a few prima donna's in the team should be the last thing on your mind. They should count themselves extremely fortunate to be asked to represent their country in whatever capacity the manager sees best, if that means you warm the bench for most of the tournament because there are better players in the team then so be it.

Agreed.

Making wholesale changes doesn't allow you to judge the one or two 'key' changes that could make a real difference.

I'd have Rose on for Young, and Sterling off for Dele. Then swap stuff up in the 2nd half if things are going satisfactorily.

I see few prima-donnas in this squad. 7 games in short order is a tough schedule. If there's a game to rotate players this is the one.

Far better for example, to blood Dier tomorrow, rather than chuck him in for a semi - final *.

I'm tending to agree with this a bit........I don't think we could manage to basically play just the same 11 - 14 players for 7 games in that timescale.

I agree with the principle of picking your best team when there is a sensible time gap, but without checking the overall program, I imagine the gaps between matches as you reach the final are even smaller than they have been so far

7 matches in 31 days...as a comparison in 1966 England played 6 games in 20 days with only 4 single player changes to the team in the whole tournament and that was 1 change in each of two group games and 2 changes in one of the group games IIRC.

And all for 3 shillings and sixpence, the promise of Cod and Chips, and with a lift home in fans car if they were going that way.

Players today don't know they're fking born.
