Poch says we are signing players but I struggle to see who can be worse than Llampost and Sissoko.

Rumours I know of are Grealish and Zaha. Although Chelsea are interested in Zaha so that kills that idea.
Would be nice to tempt Maguire away from Man Utd with Toby probably moving on but I can't see it happening.

They are limited to home-grown players as well. Over the limit for CL squad as it is.

Heard a rumour from a mate who is usually in the know about such things that we are trying to work out a swap deal with Utd, Toby for Martial. Anyone think there might be any truth in this?

Swap deals are VERY rare.

Straight swaps you mean or any swaps? Think Mkhitaryan and Sanchez was a part-swap wasn't it?

It does happen albeit rarely, in fact didn't Spurs themselves swap Bobby Zamora for Defoe plus some cash if I'm not mistaken? Just think it might be a move that would work in both clubs favour and if anyone could pull it off, Levy could. Only other thing is I'm not sure exactly what Martial would gain from the deal.

It was but they are still rare - VERY rare in fact. If you can name more than half a dozen swaps amongst all of the transfers done over the last 10 years I'd be astonished.

Only if Utd have taken leave of their senses. Oldish and injury prone CB swap for a young and supremely talented forward? No chance.

I can see why AM would like to play for Spurs and Toby sounds like he'll go anywhere for money . Makes sense.

I read in the ITK at SC that the Toby affair went along the lines of:

Verbally agreed to a deal

Refused to sign on the day

Benched

Nobody wants him as much as he thought they would

Wants to stay seeing the pay around him rise and no offers

Spurs offer the original contract.

Great player but if this helps keep the transfer market prices in check then I'm happy to throw him to the wolves. Sanchez is a much better prospect. We all know how Poch gets in a strop about players who aren't with the program.

Can't see a lot of use in him signing a contract he isn't happy with.

Utd have a pesky habit of winning things, which players tend to want to do.

You mean city? We know. That's why Walker left.

But hey, the dippers have been living on past glories for long enough. No reason why you can't be as good as them.

Utd have won more in the last 5 years than Spurs have in the last 50.

How about this, then?
Utd will finish above Spurs again next season.
Utd will win a trophy before Spurs do.
Utd will win the PL before Spurs do (because Spurs probably never will).

And your obnoxious manager will drag any joy you could possibly gain from the experience with his thin lipped, aggressive, hateful demeanour.

Enjoy his personal attacks on his own players, his surly lack of grace in defeat, his bitter attacks on anyone and everyone.

I don't envy you having to hear and read his corrosive, self-deserving bks all season long.
