Holy st. Soak it in guys because this is a brilliant moment.
We just bought the worlds most expensive Goalkeeper to go with the most expensive Defender to go with the Premier Leagues Top Scorer to go with Robertson.
Dreamland days.
I like how you mention Robertson. For all the record breaking fees we're still a team of players that Klopp has moulded and improved - Robbo, Trent, Lovren, Ox, Mo, Mane, Bobby. All significantly better under Klopp and no really expensive signings. We just bought the worlds most expensive Goalkeeper to go with the most expensive Defender to go with the Premier Leagues Top Scorer to go with Robertson.

If he ends up as half as good as Ray Clemence I’ll be more than happy. We just bought the worlds most expensive Goalkeeper to go with the most expensive Defender to go with the Premier Leagues Top Scorer to go with Robertson.

Things are certainly looking up for LFC at the moment but let’s not get carried away, we haven’t won anything yet.
Looking forward to the Napoli game in Dublin.
Heard this on local radio today, not sure if it was intended but it made me smile https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9GlC9GyF4Y

Thing is it is not just us spending big, and this is first year on net spend which is probably going to be higher than around 20-30 million? With 6 teams chasing 1 spot it is a bit 'random where any team ends up.
Also last year's 4th was with a CL final. I guess we might have been a little better without the CL games. But who knows.
Quite. City have been spending what we've spent this summer for many years running. Utd too. We've done it for one summer off the back of several years of no net spend and all of a sudden we're title contenders. I guess that's the mark of how well we've done with transfers in the past few years! Also last year's 4th was with a CL final. I guess we might have been a little better without the CL games. Also perhaps FSG learning that some of the money ball ideals don't work in football and accepting sometimes you just have to go big.
They've certainly backed Klopp and freed up serious transfer fees.
I guess we'll also see some leavers now which will offset some of the spend.

I prefer to think the other way round. They've identified the players that are needed and Klopp wants and have gone big to get them. They've certainly backed Klopp and freed up serious transfer fees.

Chelsea?
Hazard wants out clearly.
I doubt we have 150m for hazard Hazard wants out clearly.
I find it very strange that we went so far to get Fekir pictured in a Liverpool kit (even if it was leaked) and done his first full interview as a "Liverpool player" and not sign him.
Could this be another major cock-up when conducting a transfer (surely you wait until the medical has the green light before Fekir is given a shirt and does an interview?).
Chelsea had no issue with Loic Remy's medical or getting insurance. Either some serious mind games are at play here to pressure Aulas to get the fee restructured or Klopp is resigned that the risk is too great. I can't believe though he will start the campaign without a new No. 10?
Madness.
All I can think of is Hodgson/Poulsen and the other dross that summer. That's not really very long ago.
All this talk of money is nonsense btw, the fees paid and net spend whatever are meaningless, what matters as a football fan is whether the club is spending what it earns or being pumped with dodgy money off the back of people being exploited in other countries.

Karius had put together a run of 20-ish games. He arguably got away with a couple but that run obviously came to a shuddering halt under circumstances we'll never fully understand. Wasn't he £4m?
Yes he was. Arguably we've only ever gone big on VVD and Allison under Klopp. The rest were bought at medium to low fees and improved. type-r said:

The rumour us he didn't fail the medical, there was the issue with the knee that meant we wanted to restructure the way we paid them...the offer is still on the table

2-year loan deal with a compulsory purchase at the end of the loan, subject to no knee-related issues? Else we hand him back should anything flare up during the loan. It's like being flogged a car with a sticking gear. It'll drive ok as long as you are firm with it but I won't be giving you any warranty.

I think we wanted to spread the payments over the length of the contract and cease paying if his knee injury returned.Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
