mission accomplished hehe

Look I agree the whole concussion bks was stupid (please fire our head of PR) but other fans coming on just to have a pop about how disgracefully we have treated our player and quoting "YNWA" is similarly stupid given JM's frequent comments and the state of modern football.

You removed the rest of my comment which was the more salient point:

We just bought a keeper for £56M upfront, it is blindingly obvious to even the WUMs on here he will go straight on as #1. Klopp is just stating the bleeding obvious to all the team, which is arguably better than dodging the question or claiming (dishonestly) that Karius has a chance of starting as #1.

Hopefully Gomez matures this season and can cement a place next to VVD.
He was on the wrong side of the scorer of the third goal in the warm-up game against Dortmund. Karius messing up kinda covered up a very amatuer piece of defending.

Not convinced if Gomez will really be the answer. Still young though but he really needs to make a TAA-style statement of quality and step up this season and prove that he can quickly learn to cut out basic mistakes.

U wot m8?

I was disappointed in the manner of the defeat, but it's hardly an embarrassment.

If that's how you think the club feels, how must all the clubs that didn't even get to play in the final be feeling?

Christ.

We’ve already sold Ward and Mings has been up for sale for months. We’re not trying to sell Karius, if he goes it’s his decision.

YNWA. Unless you're a goalkeeper who made some mistakes because he was concussed apparently.
This 100%, the lads confidence is shot to hell, he needs to be shielded and allowed to re build. Do I get frustrated by the mistakes - you bet I do, did it hurt in the final, like a paint ball to the plums thanks to DC and formula 1 smile
All that being said, give the space to re build. there is an amazing keeper in there somewhere

A keeper of bee’s perhaps. But not goalkeeping. He can’t do that.

IF Karius were to be sold, LFC would get back at least what they paid. The implication of his statement the other day was that it's his choice whether he moves. He's not being pushed. If he was being fked off out of it then he wouldn't be involved in pre-season.

I don't think losing the final was an embarrassment. It would have been a massive achievement. The odds of an LFC win got significantly longer when Salah was injured anyway. The way we subsequently lost was disappointing.

The Karius concussion story made its way out one way or another. I can see the rationale behind making it public knowledge. I can equally see the pack of rabid dogs waiting to pounce on anything they can.

Go back and check last season champions league records. I believe he finished the campaign with 5 clean sheets better I believe than most of the other keepers!

But when it really matters, when it really counted, he fked up, badly. Twice.

I don't really care, I'm not a LPool fan but for you guys to have a chance, he can't have a chance (of making any more first-team appearances). It's a shame but that's top level sport ...

Sturridge set to stay, apparently.

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/tra...

When fit and motivated, he's class... and he's looked decent in the pre-season stuff I've seen. If he stayed like that for a full season he's be a brilliant back-up striker.

Could be it's just no one has come and offered us anything for him, of course.

He'll leave on a free next year.

If he's happy he's a decent bench option.

I'd think his injury record would preclude getting a decent price for him, but he would get a decent payday on a free with a "pay as you play" clause.

I watched it in all its gory detail, suffered the pain of his dreadful mistakes. After the game I asked myself, how did a player normally pretty solid and not prone to making daft mistakes, cock it up so badly. We all have an idea now as to what may have contributed, but nobody will ever know for sure.

However the pressure he has been under since, the alleged death threats etc. have done the square root of zero to help him recover. I am not saying he should be our first or second choice keeper this season, but that he needs to be given a chance to recover, get his mojo back etc. maybe a loan or even some time out of the limelight playing in the under 23's(?)

His record in the Champions league was very good over the entire competition and as such I refuse to believe he is as bad as some "fans" are saying.

I'm not sure it was a case of 'pretty solid' - his mistakes just hadn't been punished - I think he made two v Spurs that were and he got bked for those. But these weren't daft positioning errors a 'keeper may make once or twice a season, they were bread and butter shots he punched instead of caught, which any bloke off the terraces could do tbh, and split second decisions which he hasn't learned from ... and has repeated.

Any first team game time he gets is an accident waiting to happen - he needs a change of team and environment to fully recover and to learn some of the basics of goalkeeping ... (like catching the fecker) ...

Called it!

Glad he's staying. Don't care if he leaves on a free. He only cost £12m anyway!

It's likely to work better long term, as players can trust the manager and what he says. He says it straight. That was one of the big issues with Brendan it seems. He said everyone was excellent all the time. Then stopped playing them in the next game. Over time players realised they couldn't trust what he said, and so they didn't give their all for him. At least what I took from his time with us, and reports from previous clubs.
