Fair play to Zbrughton they were a solid 4-5-1 and we struggled. They will be mid table at least if they carry on like that.
Hard won 3 points when not at our best by a long way.

Wijnaldum seemed busy, Milner worked his socks off as usual. Can't give Allisson MOTM when he could have gifted them 2 goals being slow on the ball.

That save was a regular save keepers should make - not far from his body. I think we've been so used to having a keeper that can't save anything, we're in danger of over praising. Just glad we have a solid keeper (or will have when the coaches stop him trying to be Rene Higuita... )

Wonder why Mings didn't go. I guess he'll now get games in cup ties but everyone eemed to think he wanted to go overseas... I suppose there's another few days for that to happen but I imagine Karius has been let go because they know Mings is staying as cover.

Wish him all the best but good riddance tbh. Fingers crossed he does well enough to make it a permanent move.

True Sye. It did surprise me when he played that position which I suppose is more like a DM/MC role. Personally I would have liked to see the introduction of Fabino if that role is being played. It's also surprised me the team as a whole is same too, don't think we've had that kind of consistency for quite some time. I also find it odd to see there's no room for our Captain from last year who has been on the bench, is this something we'll see more often this season do you think?

Alisson is tha fashizzle fo sho.

No stand out players for me, maybe Allison MOTM?
For me Allison was the difference between 1 point and all 3. Brighton could have nicked a goal art the end. Good save by Allison, that’s why we bought him.
You do indeed look a lot stronger with the new keeper between the sticks.

As said above the great save, regulation or not at the end there could be the difference in winning the league or not , How many times did De gea do this kind of thing last season for Utd ?

Through gritted teeth i have to say VVD is looking like a colossus at the back & i can see you being right up there at the end.

City do have a much deeper squad but first XI's are pretty equal.

What City have is a KdB / Silva who can unlock a packed defence, although the interplay between Mo Mane and F is similar

I thought Brighton did enough to get something out the game and played how I think most teams would. Sit deep, lots of bodies behind the ball and stifle us. 1-0 with 15 to go and you give yourself a chance. Hughton bunged on more attackers to have a go and it was squeaky for a while.

I think that's the kind of game we dropped points in last year. I still think City will win the league but they'll get fewer points and we'll get more and the gap will be narrowed accordingly.

Nah. They're one of the best teams in the league and if we scrape a 1-0 win we'll be doing extremely well.
I for one think we did extremely well! biggrin

Feels weird saying this, but I think we have a better defence than City (arguably we have best in the league), but they still have a better midfield and slightly better attack.

It seems a very smart move to get him away from the focus he'd be subjected to here. I hope he "recovers" and continues to develop as he'll no doubt get more game time there. It will interesting to keep tabs on him under a different coaching system.

He'll probably look amazing in the Turkish league.

3 tricky away games in the next month, What would be a good points haul ?

Obviously 12 would be ideal but would 7 or 8 be good enough ?

Hendo will be battling to play all season, we have real competition now. There is no way he is going to get ahead of Milner with a full pre season behind him when he has had a part one....
Fabinho is obviously behind when it comes to how we play or he would be getting game time, Why risk our results if he is not yet up to speed ? He did the same with Andy Rob, till he felt he was up to speed with how we play, look how well that worked out.

This Tbh. I'm not sure Turkey was the best move for him. He should do well as the Turkish league isn't anywhere near the quality of the PL BUT Turkish fans are crazy and if he screws up, they will make the abuse he got from the Liverpool fans look like a picnic!
