His neck seemed to bend too far in the wrong direction on contact with the Spanish players chest

He’s fine. On his phone in the changing room according to the Sky team.

Spurs fan here. I think Kane needs to give the armband to someone else.

We need the slightly selfish, goal hungry Kane back, not Captain Kane.

Kane really hasn't been the same since his injury which is an awfully long time to be off the boil. I really hope he gets back to his previous form and not just for England's sake.

The young man just needs a rest .

There is far to much expectancy on his young shoulders .

Even when he’s only firing at half rate he’s still the best we’ve got .

I disagree. He’s not playing how he plays best. Instead he’s trying to help the team out rather than score goals, which TBF is what he’s best at.

When he’s on fire it’s when he’s taking every opportunity to score, not trying to set someone else up or playing midfield.

Not sure that it’s his fault, maybe that’s how GS has told him to play? Or maybe it’s the responsibility of being Captain?

Either way he’s nowhere near as goal focused as we know he can be.

He’s become a bit more like that for us at Spurs too TBH. Not knocking him as I think he’s great, but I wish he’d have a few more shots rather than unselfishly pass it to someone else as much as he seems to now.

I do agree that Harry playing a deeper role is affecting his forward play but that is obviously what he is being asked to do.

It is clear { well to me it is ) that he looks a good yard short on reaction & pace.

Lets just hope Southgate does not play him in the next meaningless game on Tuesday.

Who's bright idea was it to shoehorn this competition in during the season and only weeks after the World Cup?

and there we have it. After last nights defeat journalists are finally realising we are where we always are. Mainly beating teams we should beat, but when we come up against similar or better opposition we, in the main, fail to win. I said it after the World Cup when there was so much positivity coming out of it. We had an easy ish route, came up against a good side in Croatia and lost.

Perhaps the feeling around the camp has improved, but in the main, results haven't. Southgates record against the better nations is very poor. Granted, not all his fault as our central midfield isn't the greatest.

Surely all teams mainly beat inferior opposition and usually fail to beat better opposition?

Yes. And that means it is par. Not a miracle!

England are so much better than they have been for ages, but that’s because they were awful! England now get the results they should: they beat bad teams and lose to good ones.

Baby steps though. No one is saying we should be satisfied with the way England are at the moment, but at least they are moving in the right direction. Yes we couldn't beat seasoned tournament regulars like Belgium, Croatia or Spain, but we are at least giving them a game, and we're well away from the days of struggling against minor nations.

Last night England were outplayed, but were in the game throughout and could have drawn it at the death, had the ref not disallowed that late effort for a foul on De Gea.

England will attract criticism whatever they do, because people love to criticise England. Constructive criticism is fair enough but there are always a fair amount of people who through lack of knowledge of the game expect results to magically materialise. Southgate doesn't have the luxury of a whole world of players to choose from, he is limited to those who are eligible to represent our country, and as any regular matchday punter will attest, such players are few and far between at the highest level.

I quite enjoyed last nights match, believing that England gave good account for themselves. I thought Rashford was quite woeful, and should of got three or four goals, possibly showing lack of match, shooting practice. Kane I thought looked jaded, pleased to see Shaw back, thought up to going off he looked sharp.

I believe results are not so important, and for the next couple of years, England should replace the old guard with up and coming young players, building for the future.

True. But it’s the first England side for ages not to be a bunch of bottlers.

Those ones are bottlers. Didn’t you seen Kane in the knock out stages? And Dele. Both terrible in the big games.

Hang on. Didn't we get knocked out of the WC by Croatia? A team that everyone 'thought' we could beat.....

Yea I think it was only the Spurs players that bottled it rolleyes

ORD really knows nothing about football & will not even watch his own team after the bottlers grubbed them a few weeks ago unless they appoint a new manager ,best ignored chap.

BTW I’m with you about Southgate being not good enough , In that game against Croatia I think every body except him realised that some changes had to be made ,

So Kane and Dele played well in the knockout games? Or are you just being pointless abusive to avoid dealing with the assertion?
