The German folk that I know are either happy for England or don't really care. Does anybody know any of them that are hopping mad over the footy?

I live in Jockland however, so hopefully England win the Cup, they'll never hear the end of it, biggrin
I had a con-call with some German suppliers after they dropped out, they were very gracious, and wished us well. We do spent a lot of money with them though! biggrin

Henderson's run of unbeaten games for England now stands at 28.

yikes
I suppose when you look at the midfield we had of Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard and Beckham you can see why successive England managers wanted to pick them all but the above stat shows that you need something a bit more boring to avoid defeat.

Shame we haven't got someone who can pick a pass like just one of them though.

We have, he just happens to be our Number 10 as well.

If Kane has a long and healthy career, I can see him becoming an extremely good attacking midfielder/playmaker later on.

What worries me most about Henderson and Dier is the vacant look on their faces when they receive the ball and realise they have to do something with it. Creativity is the last thing on their minds. It's like looking at a Neanderthal who's been given a colouring book.

I'm no Man U fan, but Paul Scholes was probably the most underrated footballer in Europe.

Scholes was excellent, but he always scared my in an England shirt as he had the capacity to make some howling tackles which could get him carded and then he'd have to tone everything right back.

Is that a double entendre?
I think you mean a "euphemism", Gadget! If you need an explanation as to the difference, I'll give you one!

I agree with the Scholes comment. Lovely player to watch in his prime, just got on with the job

However it did sadden me to see him in his twilight years to resort to rather dubious tackling to cover up his deficiencies

He is a nice bloke on camera as well

Why we give this drug taking , cheating of a man any air time or paper space is beyond me.
Because, odious individual from a st background he may be, but he was the greatest footballer of all time.

He's a working class kid from the slums of Buenos Aires and he's never escaped from those origins

Why are people upset over this? If our enemies are angry, that's a good thing. By the time this tournament is over, I hope the Argentinians, Germans and Scots are all seething. hehe

No, I didn't know that. Clearly I haven't met that one.

Edit: sorry, just seen that I was beaten to that joke.

Indeed. Rubbish at tacking. Very good at shooting.

Never heard the term and I've been going to football for 50 years. Made up space filler by the Grauniad.
