My view is that Saka is immense. And I’m a Liverpool supporter. They need to free him up more.
Not many non Arsenal fans seem to have that view. He’s a special talent without a doubt and also seems to have his feet firmly planted on the ground. His cross gave Kane a relatively straightforward finish and then scores a goal that was literally unstoppable.
I'm not an Arsenal fan and I think Sakas performances for England have been consistently very strong. Could be the best player of his generation.

I stand by my earlier comment that Grealish is useless. The lights are on but no one is in. The gormless fker shouldn't be anywhere near the squad.

I hope they give Maddison another try. He didn't stand out last night but also didn't play badly. On top form he's top quality and preferable to Grealish any day.

PS I bet Villa are still laughing at the price they extorted from Man City.

Think Grealish main talent is being able to dribble and draw the fouls, therefore getting free kicks for his team. Madison is quality when he's on form, hope he gets more games.

Maddison created a number of decent chances tbf. He'll be a regular in the squad from the summer, as soon as he leaves LCFC he'll start being picked, even if he isn't playing regularly for his new club.

As an aside, I wasn't sure whether Steven Gerrard's earnest proclamation 'We're all with you, anything you want just ask' was an offer of a bed for the night or a committment to a squadron of F16s.
We’ve never had any F16s, so that little Ukrainian kid with the poster needed to get his facts right, before asking Rishi for them. wink

Moving on, we have the mighty Maltese away next up in June. That got me thinking about an away friendly against them back in 2000. My memory of that match was that it was organised as a lucrative attempted FA “incentive” to encourage the Maltese to vote for England in the upcoming 2006 World Cup hosting bid. However, they were out-bribed by Franz Beckenbauer who offered various smaller nations friendlies against Bayern Munich in return for their votes for Germany.

Not sure what you expected but it’s a balance of established players and some more fringe ones. There is no point doing something totally different to what would happen at a tournament like 3 strikers or anything bonkers.

In any case there is some tactical experimentation going on with TAA in midfield.

Game over with that pen so doesn't really matter now - be interesting to see now how many changes are made at HT (if any) or stick with & go for goals.

Would be nice to see a few changes made, Eze especially.

Expect he'll get his debut - think only uncapped player on bench.

The handball rule is too soft, but that is softer than soft.

That penalty decision is absolutely rediculous. What on earth is the defender supposed to do to get out of the way from 3 feet away? The games gone mad! irked

Yep, stupid - what was the defender supposed to do.

I have no idea. His arms were in tight by his side and the cross was hit hard from 2 yards away.

People keep saying this is the VAR rules when a soft handball is given. I don't interpret the rules meaning things like that are a penalty.

Ridiculous decision. How the ref gave that is beyond my understanding of the game.

I'm a big fan of close decisions going the way of 'my team', but that sort of decision, especially with benefit of super slow-mo, just ruins the game.

We've got the best squad I can remember, atleast from an offensive POV.

With the usual caveats of its only Malta that was a good game.

Hand ball rule needs to change to reflect unintentional and/or refs need to have the bks to overule VAR when told to look @ screen when it's as obvious an error as yesterdays. But we've all be saying that all season, so appears unlikely that it'll change.

I think it was Gary Lineker that said he had been told in good authority that the handball rule would be changing next season.

Assume that will need FIFA & UEFA agreement - hope so, stupid @ moment.
