Sweden may not be a worse team but we definitely have better players.

Hopefully that will make the difference.

I think they are. But they may still beat us.

I'd say they have a better team ethic than us, but we have by far superior players, man for man. I saw them play Switzerland and thought they were really, seriously poor. I think we'll have too much for them - famous last words!
I predict a 2-0 win for England.

1st goal is crucial in this game. If England get the 1st and Sweden have to come out, England can counter at pace and put Sweden out of sight. As you say, they've got the players to hurt them. You don't really want to go a goal down to Sweden, as they've such a strong defence when everyone gets back. That 1st goal is crucial in this match.

Although this is our 3rd QF since beating Cameroon in 1990, we went into the other 2 against Brazil and Portugal with no real hope of winning. Today is the first time since Cameroon we find ourselves in a QF against a worse team. That doesn't mean we'll win, but it does mean we should win.

I find it difficult, after Iceland, to raise my hopes, but I actually believe we will get thru today. If so, then it's fingers crossed Russia beat Croatia. Then it'll be a semi against a worse team than us.
I'm not sure that Croatia are a worse team than us tbh, they're a good side and they have some real quality, that would be a tough match.

The ruskies are playing well too and they are on home turf.

Neither of those games would be easy.

They aren't. That's why I said "If Russia beat Croatia".

If only Sissoko was English... biggrin

I really don’t get it. Sterling has done virtually nothing right this WC.

This. Only a fool would underestimate them. I think it'll be quite a close game. It'll be a major test of character for either team if they go a goal or more up, England especially have frequently taken their eye off the ball late on in crunch games and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

Just listening to 5Live on the way home and every pundit said about Dele being played out of position and how it affects him, but also affects Kane.

I do not get why Sterling is playing. I simply don't get it. It's not even that he's rubbish, it's that he also handicaps two other key players.

Madness.

I thought he'd make a change for this one & push Ali up a bit.

Sterling's got to offer more service (all we've been saying that since the start).

Just over an hour to go coffee

He has to come good today.
Southgate is picking him for a reason so I have to believe.
COME ON ENGLAND!
