Chaps

I missed the 6pm by 1 minute........ I've been in hospital as I was knocked off my bike this morning and am prettty bashed up.(broken wrist, ankle, ribs bruised and a few cuts)
If I have to miss out on scoring because I'm a minute late then fair enough but I really could not do them any quicker

My phone is smashed from the fall hence I had to wait to get home to put them in.

My fate is in Gadgetmac's hands.

I'm actually pretty happy I'm alive as the truck which hit me was doing at least 45mph and I was thrown a long way clear into a ditch....

First of all I’m glad to hear you are OK Jiffle...that’s the MOST IMPORTANT thing here. This is just a little bit of fun on a Friday.

Address to the competitors.

Second, my problem here is consistency. frown

I’ve disallowed forecasts before for late entries and those players on here who were on the receiving end of my stubbornness in the past will not be happy bunnies as they all said at the time that they too were late for a reason albeit not that they were hurt.

I’m sensitive to the accusations that, even though they may not be articulated, will be in those players minds if I allow this. Lets not forget over the last few seasons I’ve also removed people from the game completely who’ve failed to stick to the rules.

I’m also aware that if I don’t give you some leeway that it could be construed that I’m being particularly harsh because you are my nearest competition at this point in the season. I also want to win this fairly and squarely or else it would be a somewhat hollow victory should it come to pass.

What the hell am I supposed to do? weeping

If I allow it this time what happens the next time somebody is a minute late...or maybe 5 minutes late because they had to cook their kids dinners when the wife was taken ill etc etc etc.

This puts me in an impossible situation. I’d love to let it slip by but it fks me for the future if I do, even though its only 1 small minute late. frown

I’m seriously torn here. I’m damned by some if I do allow it and I’m damned by others if I don’t.

Suggestions on how to solve this brexit-like dilemma please.

This isn’t a democracy laugh

Seriously though...I don’t think I can allow it to stand for the reasons I’ve detailed..which upsets me more than a bit due to the circumstances. frown

Thanks for the wishes chaps, as I was in hospital and realising I was not dead, I did wonder what would happen in the last few predictathon weeks and if The Jiffle Queen might realise and fill them in (She has just said that she would not hehe)

I'll abide by whatever the outcome is as right now I'm happy to still be breathing and be at home, but hoping that a minutes leeway might be given for a crocked competitor.... Tugging on the gadget heart strings....

If anyone wants a very broken bike, the police have kindly recovered it to me and told me the truck had a blowout and lost control so a true accident. Driver arrested and released without charge and then came to the hospital (top bloke)

Glad to see that you're up and about, Jiffle, that's the most important thing.

As for the question of whether your post should count, I'd be more than happy for them to be allowed. I get completely what Gadget is saying but these are pretty extreme circumstances IMO.

Part of me says deduct points just for being a grown man on a bike but the other part say we should cut him some slack as this might be his only bit of fun he'll get this weekend hehe

Let it go but can we call him 'The 1 Minute King' from now on?

There’s only one way I can countenance this.

I will need all of the remaining 16 participants (Myself, Jiffle, PHuzzy and GTO-3R don’t count) to voice their approval as I can’t have even one person who I may have been strict with on a prior occasion feeling I’ve shown favouritism or that they have been treated unfairly in comparison to Jiffle.

There must be no pressure applied to anyone to vote “yes”, they must post their approval of their own accord having read the thread. When all 16 have said yes I’ll add in Jiffle’s points which I’ll store for 2 weeks from today which is the deadline. Any no shows will be deemed to be a ‘No’ vote as that person doesn’t want to say ‘no’ and appear to be the kill joy but they may have had to suffer my insistence on adherence to the rules themselves.

No reminding people to vote as that is pressure, no making lists as that also highlights who hasn’t voted and is a form of pressure, they do it because they want to do it. I will keep a list on the spreadsheet and you can keep your own private list if you like. Needless to say those who’ve indicated approval have been noted already.

This is the only way I can be sure nobody is hiding any resentment if I allow Jiffle’s scores. I can also be reached via PH’s email system if you have a point to make privately.

Thank you.

I think 1 minute late after being knocked off a push bike by an out of control truck is allowable. I've only ever missed predicting due to workload/not setting reminders, 1 Min Kings first thought after nearly being killed was to get his predictions in - that's dedication.

Get well soon TJK!

At Gadgets request, I would allow it. I certainly would allow it in the CL thon... and have done.

I like the cut off time to prepare the scores etc - however as long as no games have kicked off, I am very laid back on that timing issue.

Which is fine as no precedents have been set in the CL thon. Unfortunately they have in this competition both this season and in previous seasons.

Brabus (above) is one of the people I have to consider here. He suffered as a consequence of my insistence on rules being adhered to as have a few others. But if everyone is happy to allow it this time then so be it.
