Glovermart: I was looking to see last season's final table which you kindly compiled in my absence but on last season's thread - page 52, 11/05/18 - the picture of the final table you posted has gone missing. Do you have a copy by any chance?

All that's left from your post where the picture was is the place holder.

Is this the one, Gadget? To be honest, I'd forgotten we won last year.

That's the one, thank you very much GM thumbup

The Jiffle King late posting issue: The 2 week deadline has passed for you to all have your say on this and as it stands a few have still not passed comment either way so, not knowing their reasons for this (ie they may feel they can overtake him if it doesn’t stand), I can’t allow it to stand. I’ll give another 24 hours though just in case those players have forgotten.

Give him the points, Gadge!
I'd like to but there are players behind him in the table who might think they can catch him and who wouldn't be happy if I just arbitrarily decided to give him the points whilst demanding everyone else stick to the rules at all other times.

There's literally nothing I can do about that.

How much is the pay for this fecking headache again???

Or giving him the points makes it far tighter and interesting at the top! wink
Maybe, but that’s not relevant. What is relevant is where I would go from here if I took a personal decision to allow it without the consent of everybody else.

I agree, it would be hard to take if at the end of the season any gap between him and the winner is less than 7 points. But equally that’s true of the people who might be in front of him come the season end but are then placed below him due to me allowing the 7 points. And they are currently nearer him than he is to me. It’s not my game – you must all agree and I’ll do it as it’s your instruction - but I have to tell you that if it’s you that suffers a similar fate in the future by posting a little late I still won’t be allowing it just because I allowed it this time – everybody will have to agree to it all over again.

any previous lateness?

any missed gaps/spaces in predicting?

any one actually come on here to say don't give the points?
Again, not relevant I’m afraid. The bit in bold above would still apply.

The posters who currently haven't expressed an opinion need only say "Allow it" and I will and given how much space this subject is taking up on here now they can't fail to have seen it.

rofl Knob head!
It was the only way out of an intractable problem I was faced with.

I can’t give Jiffle the 7 points as:

1. He was late to post albeit only by 1 minute

2. Not everybody has agreed that he can have the points and maybe one person in particular felt that they could catch him...I don’t know...

So, weighing up the fact that some might have thought it unfair to award Jiffle the points against the fact that Jiffle is still second and would have felt hard done by if he missed winning the predictathon by anything less than 7 points...the only obvious course of action was to miss this weeks predictions myself and thus reset the gap between Jiffle and Me. This could backfire on me if Jiffle scores highly this week but hey, it’s only a game and I don’t want to win it with anybody feeling hard done by.

Cheers.

Well it’s been a long journey but we’ve finally arrived at the final matchday – so a big thanks for playing. PHuzzy, GTO-3R and DeeSee are the 3 who have effectively self-relegated themselves - a near-miss for Lenandsons hehe - so if everyone wants to play next season there will likely be 3 spare places.

Thanks for all of your kind words guys, makes all the effort worthwhile. Cash would say it so much more loudly but hey ho. hehe

Mattyn: thanks for the offer but I'll continue next season. Maybe the season after that?

Glovermart: provided your guys are PH'ers then no problem.

I'll start the next thread a couple of weeks before the new season.

Again, it's been a blast chaps!

Can I make a suggestion for a rule change.

If you miss a week then 1-0 is entered for all predictions rather than 0 points.

Apologies if this has been suggested before smile.

I know I'm not a member of the club yet but I would like to join for next year smile
We used to use 4-4. However any result being entered allows the miscreant to potentially score points.

No points at all means everyone is on their toes.... in theory.
That's right. If you allow any points at all for not playing you set up the potential for a no-show to still score more than somebody who did forecast. So that's not something I personally would ever entertain. Future 'thon runners may change that though.
