Oh right. So you just assumed I was sticking up for Ron. You're agenda is clear at least.
and I wonder why someone would assume that?Let's see.
You signed up 3 days ago and 99% of your posts have been in relation to the sterling incident.
Then you put "racist" in quotes regarding what Ron Atkinson called Marcel Desailly.
Have I got it all wrong?
(That's rhetorical btw)
Regarding Sinclair, it's a disgrace what he said to that officer, but you could argue that that incident was in his private life, and what Ron said was on the TV and therefore very public and bringing the channel into disrepute.
Same as how what the Chelsea fan is alleged to have said was at the stadium, if he said it to raheem on a Monday morning at the shops he wouldn't be sacked from his job or banned from going to games would he?
I don't even know what Sinclair is doing now? Is he back on the TV then?

You lied about reading the Court transcript didn’t you? Alpinestars said:

Well pretty obvious really. He's a good example of a white player who got dog's abuse off the press and opposing fans.
Find any tv clip of Terry falling on a hoarding by opposing fans., and you'll see the same kind of faces gesturing and contorted with rage.
If Stirling received racial abuse, then that's not on. If he didn't, and he just got general abuse, then he was treated much the same as many unpopular players by opposing fans. None of those fans knew Terry or Stirling, they'd just formed an opinion based on news coverage.
Abuse because he chose to call someone a fking black on the pitch? But good choice of “role model” who’s obviously victimised. Find any tv clip of Terry falling on a hoarding by opposing fans., and you'll see the same kind of faces gesturing and contorted with rage.

You can maintain that IF Terry used those words it's entirely unacceptable but do you think for a moment Ferdinand didn't come up with his own choice epithets in return.

Did Marcus Rashford get a lot of st when he bought his mum a house?
I think you're missing the point. Not every black player is going to be singled out when they do this, particularly not ones who don't in some way fit the media stereotype of how a black man looks and acts. Sterling had kids when he was young and has tattoos - seemingly that's reason enough for the media to go after him.FWIW the young player at City who the article was about has done precisely nothing to attract any ire other than have the temerity to be a young, successful black man.

If a BAME journalist does a 2, 3 or 4 negative stories about a white player does that make the BAME journalist racist? I'm just intrigued.

I'd agree that he was unfairly treated, but the article was, I thought, mainly having a go at Man City, for paying young players so much money that they can afford to buy expensive houses outright before even playing for the 1st team. (which isn't something unique to City anyway) No doubt written by a journalist who follows a team with less money than City.

I agree to a certain extent regarding Big Ron and Sinclair. However, the Chelsea fan, Colin Wing has lost his job for something which he did outside of work even before being found guilty (or not). Sinclair was found guilty, but reinstated with the BBC. He came back on our TV's the other week.
I don't think that whatever he did at the game should affect his employment, but that's the way it is now, especially with social media.TwigtheWonderkid said:

I suppose it depends on his job. If he's a councillor specialising in anger management, it's not a great advert. Look, if you make a public show of yourself like that when you know it's been televised, you really can't have to many complaints about the outcome. I don't know if he's a racist, but I'm pretty confident that he's not very bright.

You do realise the "atmoshere" that surrounded that particular game was intense, abusive and toxic. QPR's fans at that point had been enduring years of their despised local rivals success being shoved in their face. I don't think I've ever heard Chelsea's players being abused in such a malevolent way before or since. Rangers won the game 1.0, Chelsea finished with 9 players, it was a battle.
You can maintain that IF Terry used those words it's entirely unacceptable but do you think for a moment Ferdinand didn't come up with his own choice epithets in return.
