OK - thanks to all who have managed to stay with the CL thon all autumn.

As the new year approaches I thought it a good idea to let you know how I intend to run this through until the final in May 19.

Competition 1will continue in the same manner as we have played the group matches. We will predict scores based on a weeks worth of matches with predictions to be in by one hour before kick off of the first match that week. I will try to get the scores processed and tables uploaded as soon as possible. Last 16 matches start I think 12 Feb 19. We will keep doing this right through to the final in May, where we should find a winner!


Competition 2will be based on the last 16 draw that takes place on 17 Dec 18. Based on our table, the top eight players will adopt the group winners names in the draw (table 1 to 8 equate to group A to H winners) and the second eight will adopt the group runners up names (table 9 to 16 to group A to h runners up). Then we will "play" matches against each other depending on the real CL draw.


The difference with Comp 2 will be the "home team" will select their predictions first, and before the "away" team of each fixture. The away team cannot predict the same scoreline as the home team. Points will be awarded in the same fashion as we do currently, and totalled over both legs. Winners go through to the 1/4 finals.


Hopefully this makes sense. You might ask why? Well I foresee in comp A, the players lower down in the league losing interest as we get to the quarter / semi / final - and I hope this will keep their interest. If it is successful and sparks interest, we can adopt this formula next year!

So however the draw works out on 17 Dec 18, that will determine how our Last 16 matches will be played. Our matches will also be two legged matches.

1st Leg - the home team player will predict all scores for all eight 1st leg matches before the away team player predicts theirs. Away team players cannot predict the same score line as the home team player for the same match. For example, if the tie was between GloverRyan (home) and Phuzzy(away), match A - GloverRyan predicts 2 0, Phuzzy cannot predict 2 0 as well.

2nd Leg - the home team player will predict all scores for all eight 2nd leg matches before the away team player predicts theirs. Away team players cannot predict the same score line as the home team player.

The result will be calculated by the usual points tally over both legs - three points for a correct scoreline, one point for a correct result.
If points totals are equal, the tie will be decided on the number of correct scorelines over both legs.
If these are equal, the tie will be decided by the number of correct results over both legs.
If still equal, the tie will be decided by a play-off based on the first five Scottish League matches on the Saturday following the CL 2nd leg matches.
if still equal, the winner will be decided by the higher number of correct results overall predicted by each player at that point in time during Competition 1.
