All people have said is 'Bobby' isnt or wasn't one of the best 30 footballers of the last 12 months.

Its okay to admit things that are true you know laugh
Personally, I would trust Henry's opinion over yours. He said he was the best striker in the PL. End of story.

Surely the clue is in the name, the main aim of a striker is to score goals, in fact that is the very definition of the word. Last year Firminho was the 7th best striker in the PL, your own Mo Salah was in fact a far better striker scoring 17 more goals. Yes obviously Firminho brings more to the game for LFC then just scoring goals but he isn't the best "striker" in the league by a long shot, end of story.

Hahaha good article

But he is not a marquee signing or a worldy scoring type like Hazard or Salah so won’t get any recognition from other teams’ fans. Why do people bother trying to argue or defend Firmino to them is beyond me.

As for any European football award - they are all a load of corrupt bks so these lists are usually nonsense

To be fair to Henry, he did say "I'm not talking about the best finisher or the best work-rate, I'm talking about all round. The most complete in the league."

Firmino isn't a striker, he's a forward.

Its not rocket science, if we wanted an out an out striker/finisher we would probably play Sturridge but we dont so play Firmino -
What he is asked to do by Klopp is totally different to what say Kane, Lukaku, Morata etc are asked to do - Seriously this is not that hard to understand.

You rate him on goals, his manager and not 1 Liverpool fan does.

Don't take this the wrong way 'n all - but the winner of the award is almost always a Latin or plays in a Latin european country for a Latin European club.

Some times that's warranted but sometimes it's not.

If Modric wins it he will still fulfill the criteria.

Again, that's an observation not some kind of racist comment. France (along with the Latin American countries) has always looked to the Southern European states (ie Spain, Italy, Portugal etc) for it's footballing heroes and not Germany or England as that's where it's own footballers have traditionally gravitated.

You have to go back to 2001 to break that cycle - and 1996 before that.

The French magazine 'France Football' created the award back in 1956. It was previously known as The European Footballer Of The Year.

To me it's gotten a bit like the Eurovision Song contest - no matter how good the UK's song we are never gonna win it.

Now just watch a egyptian guy playing in the grim north-west of England go and win it just to spite me hehe
Owen won it didnt he?
He was last Northern European at a non-Latin club to win it back in 2001.

Since then it's been:

Real Madrid x 6
Barcelona x 6
Milan x 2
Juventus
Man Utd (Ronaldo)

or

Spain x 12
Italy x 3
Eng x 1

Maybe even a top defenders?

Neville said of Firmino: “He’s a brilliant, brilliant player. I love Firmino.
“I didn’t hesitate in putting him in my team of the season (last season).

“He’s not got the best awareness, he’s probably not got the best touch in the league out of all the strikers, he’s not maybe the biggest goalscorer in the league, but for me he sets the tone for everything that Liverpool do.”

Souness then questioned what Gary Neville said, replying: “You don’t think he’s got a good touch?”

Neville then defended his comments, responding: “He hasn’t got the best touch in the league
“(Sergio) Aguero, someone like that.

“He’s got a good touch but what I’m saying to you is you wouldn’t say he’s got the best touch, best awareness, best goalscorer.

“But in terms of his contribution to the team, it’s incredible.”

So he hasn't got the best touch, best awareness or best goalscorer but he's still the best striker in the PL.

Right glad that's cleared up any confusion. wink

Ah. So you are arguging with Henry. Fair enough. Maybe tweet him? I don't think he reads PH.

No I was actually arguing with Type R who in fact misquoted Henry and called him the best striker in the PL but don't let facts get in the way.

Anyway how many goals has Firminho scored so far in the PL this season?

Henry called him a striker - and whether that be complete or the best or both - be that as a forward or striker - the sentiment still applies.

I think he has two goals this season in the Prem , He averages about 1 goal in every 3 games played in his career .

He scored against the Spurs if i remember correctly .

Anyway who cares he has no chance of winning the ballon d'or .

Well quite. They might have well as stuck Dier on the list, ultimately the real contenders are no more than 3 or 4 on the list.

Salah
Modric
M'bappe
Lloris

I'd go with

Modric
Bale
Messi
Christiano
Salah/Kane

In that order.
