The last 3 pages have had more posts about City than Liverpool. Looks like you lot are just as obsessed with them as they are about you. wink

Where did this obsession from City with us start ?
Throwing bottles at their bus and hammering them when they were supposed to win the champion's league for a guess.

Don’t you ever look in your rear view mirror when overtaking?....

We haven't had a squad this strong in a long time.
It is some feat to have amassed 42 points in 16 games with changing our style of play and be above a side like City who are favorites to win it and even David Luiz says are the best team In Europe.
I know they are missing KDB and Aguero at the moment however it feels like we still haven't even got out of 2nd gear but have only concede 6 goals all season laugh

In years gone by it has been our defence that we have been let down by. We were scared when we had3 to hold on to a lead.

Now we have Alisson in goal and VvD commanding the back line, along with Andy Robertson our Scottish marauding warrior and a young homegrown player at RB. Sad to see Gomez out for the Christmas period but he will come back in for the run in and we have Lovren and Matip to stand in for him. Both players performances should be stabilised standing next to Virgil.

Fabinho and Keita have looked impressive the past couple of games and we still have Henderson, Milner, Wijnaldum, Lallana and Shaqiri,

Front 3 pick themselves and we have Sturridge and Origi as rotating options for them. The attacking choices we have I feel is the area where we fall off a little in quality when a sub is needed but we still certainly should be happy with the squad in terms of cover for the entire season, Klopp has progressed us a lot as an overall team 3 years after his arrival.

Our next league game is Man Utd and for once I feel confident going into the match that the players can control the game and stay watertight. VvD's height will be integral and Salah's finishing will need to be on point because De Gea can have days where nothing will go past him. Let's just hope he keeps his recent form up biggrin

Firstly, Napoli and the step to the next round of the Champions League. The best tournament in football where home and away nights under the lights feel special. I will be happy with 1-0 in the 89th minute. Revenge.
1 - 0 and we go out, not the best revenge.

City are still favourites in my book.
yes it's nice to be top but both us and them will drop further points, and most would bet on us dropping more - obviously the game against them on 3rd Jan is crucial, be great if we can still have our noses in front such that a draw is ok

I thought we could win 1-0, or by 2 clear goals so 2-1 is no good.

To be honest, I can't see it - we've been shat in Europe and they dicked us at their place. Hope I am wrong, again.

Scenario 1: PSG win against Red Star Belgrade

This is the most likely scenario, given that Red Star have already been eliminated. In this case, Liverpool have to beat Napoli by a margin of two goals or a 1-0 result in order to go through. PSG will win the group and Liverpool will be second in this case.
But any other result will send Napoli through along with PSG. A loss for Carlo Ancelotti's side by a margin less that two goals or a draw will see PSG win the group but a win will see Napoli win the group.

st then gets complicated

Scenario 2: If PSG draw against Red Star Belgrade

In this case, PSG will have nine points and if Napoli manage to get a draw or a win against Liverpool, the French champions and the Serie A side will go through. But if Liverpool manage a victory, all three teams will have nine points and then the tie-break rules will have to be applied:

1. Points in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
2. Goal difference in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
3. Goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
4. Away goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams

and finally:

Scenario 3: If PSG lose against Red Star Belgrade

This is a highly unlikely scenario but one which will ensure Napoli's qualification regardless of their result against Liverpool. But a win by any margin will do nicely for Liverpool and they will qualify at the expense of PSG.

As above. 1-0 and we are through smile
Anfield will be rocking. Everyone dreams of European nights.

Funnily enough Napoli also won 4-0 on Saturday so we are both in the mood to score some goals.

It’s different though coming to Anfield than playing at home at the Stadio SAN Paulo although I’m sure there ~2800 fans will be up for it.
Hopefully the police will have a massive presence. Don’t want a repeat of the Roma match.

This has Olympiakos written all over it.

Difference is it is at home, where we have done generally fine. However anything could happen. Going to have the sofa out though, if we're 1-0 or 2-0 up with 10 minutes to go will be bricking it!

They also rested Mertens. And IIRC Hamsik and Insigne were both subbed.

Could be a really tough game.

Totally agree, I was one who had massive concerns, Bournemouth is diff to Napoli thought, lets hope he can perform the high level tomorrow as we will need him too.

Cant wait for tomorrow, going to get down early get the atmosphere soaked up, no doubt there will be a gathering outside King Harry too

Fair enough, I'll get back in my box. So it's 2 clear goals to guarantee qualification.
