I remember Chelsea's awful start under Conte when he took over...until he changed tactics and they became invincible - and won the Prem that season. More interested to see who is where by xmas, that should be a decent indicator.

Klopp confirms Shaqiri was a tactical change: "He is not injured, I just wanted to control the game more."
Hoisted by his own petard, comes to mind.

Shaq did so well in the first half, too well, that led to his own downfall by being hoisted off so we could see out the game.

An old Shakespearean quote: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoist_with_his_own...

It is interesting watching Klopp's change in mentality. I don't think he'd have made that switch last season. The second half was like a training session.

Would he have been subbed because he wasn't doing as he was told?

Watching MOTD this morning, his highlights are all over the wings and generally in more forward positions. All be it that's exactly why we were winning by 3 at the half but maybe Klopp wanted someone to stay put in midfield. Still a strange decision if that's the case because it was working.

Matip was fantastic. Had a cracker. As it stands we have 4 awesome CBs.

I think he was doing as told - just Klopp wanted to shut down the game more, so went more standard team, rather than attacking. He knows there is 4 difficult games coming up, plus a long season which is after a world cup, so our pressing game will be affected in long term, so rest more now.

Not as exciting to watch but shows a mature coaching approach, close things down and conserve energy when you are 3 up, we can do that comfortably now the defence and gk are decent.

Completely agree.

More important games coming up. So take the foot off the gas in the second half and bring on someone who can help just control the game without expending too much energy.

Don't forget Mark Hughes admitted it was damage limitation in the second half so the game didn't get stretched as it would normally.

It's a tiny bit annoying that after 6 wins on the bounce we'll likely be in second place by the end of the day.

It doesn’t matter where we are by the end of the day, it’s where we are at the end of the season that really matters.
Some fans, but mainly the media, are getting carried away by our recent run of good form, predicting that we will win this, that and the other. We’ve been here before and know all too well what can happen. Let’s just sit tight and enjoy the journey, wherever it takes us. If we end up winning something great, but don’t be setting yourselves up for a fall. All I hope is that we win our next game.
Personally I don’t think we are playing that well, our front three haven’t clicked as a unit yet, but we are definitely looking a lot tighter at the back and for once we have a bit of depth in the squad. For me, City are still the team to beat, they could have scored 10 yesterday.

Would it be too much to ask that West Ham get something out of the game today?

Yeah I get that, I do but another way to look at it would be that we're winning the game easily and mostly the reason why was Shaq himself. Resting players couldn't have been the issue as if I remember correctly he actually brought on Milner who is one of the players that definitely needs a short break for the long term whereas Shaq has hardly featured with regards to starts.

I don't believe we needed to shut shop, could've pushed for a 5-0 without the full pressure intensity.

At the same time it worked and we played well. I don't like to sound like I'm complaining but I just don't understand the logic.

Anyone notice a lot of fans had got off before the end? Winning seems to be trivial nowadays... Love it.

First 25 mins,no chance but they have had a couple of decent chances in the last 10.
