So let me get this right, after all the comments throughout this year about massive spends etc, Spurs being so amazing with their budget etc. And yet it's us that wins the net spend trophy? (Plus, perhaps, dare I possibly say it... the real one? )...
TBF, they have a lot of cheese to pay for!Adam B said:

Interesting analysis by ex-ref Dermot Gallagher on SkySports. He says that if Salah won the penalty on Saturday, the incident would have been retrospectively reviewed by the 3 man panel and had they judged he had dived, he would have been given an automatic 2 match ban.
But bcause no penalty was given, it cannot be reviewed. Lucky? Food for thought for the WUM's to chew on.
stupid rule, any alleged dive should be investigated, and retro action should be takenBut bcause no penalty was given, it cannot be reviewed. Lucky? Food for thought for the WUM's to chew on.

Was it a 'dive' though? But bcause no penalty was given, it cannot be reviewed. Lucky? Food for thought for the WUM's to chew on.
If the defender is useless and pulls or hacks at the player like sakho was doing at the weekend and others have done this season, I'm more than happy for the forward to go to down to try get a pen.
Should forwards just let ste defenders who aren't good enough to tackle cleanly, to just boot them and pull their shirt in the box when they can't get to the ball? Refs never give anything for a player that stays on his feet, ever, so if you are getting fouled, what's the point in staying up?
I agree that when there is no contact at all, then it's a dive and that should be punished (unless it's a Liverpool player ) but when there is clear contact, the player has the right to go down imo and give the ref a decision to make.

Genuine question , what is diff to salah been pulled back and dropping easy, to Kane kicking the ball past the keeping then falling into him (before contact) ? why is one more 'cheating' than the other, either both are or none are If the defender is useless and pulls or hacks at the player like sakho was doing at the weekend and others have done this season, I'm more than happy for the forward to go to down to try get a pen.

I actually hope Salah (and all the others) are getting spoken to about it.
That is the key - others tooWas Sterlings/Vardys/Davies brought up on MOTD when it happened?
I don't want to get to a scenario where a legitimate penalty claim, in a critical context, is turned away because players have been throwing themselves on the deck.
Salah has enough self awareness to watch his effort at the weekend, see the delay while he made a decision whether to fall or not, and realise it was stupid.

I dont think anyone is saying the one v Palace was not stupid, it was, it was not a foul for me so didnt need that reaction. His others were fouls and did deserve a pen, did he go to ground easy on both, course he did but how many strikers do you waiting for a keeper to come, the kick it past them then fall into them before contact (KANE DID IT OTHER WEEK) - there is no difference, the legs have gone well before contact.I don't want to get to a scenario where a legitimate penalty claim, in a critical context, is turned away because players have been throwing themselves on the deck.

The refs need to be blowing for fouls when they see the contact (the pulls) not when they see the player go to ground from the pull, anywhere else on the pitch he blows for that without the player going dow,,, because its in the box they dont, which is wrong.
