So we have Romero and Cech named so far, and they're debatable, to say the least.

Pope and Heaton are not great keepers either.
I think the thing is, all mentioned are solid, dependable keepers that are not perhaps of a level of your DDG, Allison, Ederson etc

Mingolet is a ticking bomb just waiting to spoon something in or flap at a corner

Let's not forget you bought Karius to replace him and even when he was having a mare then spent £70 odd million on a replacement rather than risking Mingolet again

All keepers make errors, Liverpool's keeper errors are back page news.

LFC were interested in signing Pope at one point.

You could argue Hart, Heaton and Pope are all Mignolet level.

It's hard to know what Mignolet level is now as he hasn't had a run in the side for yonks.

I don't mind Mignolet, I still suspect LFC coaching standards but let's not pretend he's a worldie.

Why is VVD showing as injured on Telegraph FF ?
Picked up an illness in Dubai, hasn’t trained since he returned. May not play against Leicester according to James Pearce.

I don't think Mig is too bad, it'd be interesting to see how he did with this defence. Remember Mig hasn't really played with VvD (who helped even Karius keep the most clean sheets last year after he arrived), and did have Moreno. So that's certainly not going to help. Where Alisson is an improvement seems to be high balls in from set pieces, I think we've only let in 1 (or might be 0) goals from set pieces this season, which is remarkable after Karius and Mig. Alisson is also better on his distribution from the back and helping us break quickly, resulting in a few goals at different points. Mig was a decent shot stopper, certainly a better keeper than Karius IMO.

Mings will want out again in the summer. He made no secret of it previously. Maybe time for Kelleher to step up come August?

And why don't you feck off and go somewhere where you're wanted - my bad, no-one wants you.

Agree with this. I think the comment Mings made about Alisson being a great person too, not just a grkeeper is telling us what he thought about what he thought about Karius. Either way, he’s a first team keeper. Just not perhaps for a top 4 Prem club.

Cech
It's quite a long list.
Yep it is.

He's won more PL titles than Liverpool Football Club.

Yeap, that's the way I would see it. Decent enough keeper, but if we really want to win stuff consistently not quite there. With a better defence we'd have seen less goals, but we get a little bit more from Alisson in his getting the ball out quickly combined with better aerial skills.

Romero is by far the best backup keeper in the Prem. Mignolet is not near his level.

The spurs bloke looks pretty good.

But yes I agree, it must be a great time be a fan of the red devils.

VvD still a doubt with illness. Hopefully it is cold-related and he can be dosed up!

Romero would probably walk into most PL clubs first team GK spot imo. Unfortunatly United do pick their goalkeepers very well and have done for a long time.

That's about as much praise as I want to give them.. ever. Let's face it though, Mings has been nothing short of a total waste of money for us, even now he's sitting happy on a decent wedge. Had high hopes for him when he joined and at times he was almost a decent keeper but in hindsight he's been terrible. Still better than Karius though.

Would definitely like to see a proper good young keeper sat on the bench.

Can't say I've seen enough of Romero to make a judgement. Has he been properly tested or had a run in the team yet?

Mings was capable of looking pretty good for a quite a few games and then he'd flap at a cross and cost us a goal. Same with Karius.

Injury update:

Klopp said:
“Virgil was a little bit ill, but he trained yesterday so we will see,” he told reporters.

“Dejan fine, Gini trained, Fabinho will train today.

“Trent is getting closer and closer, it looks all very positive, but will not be ready for tomorrow. [Gomez] no.”

I would prefer to see a good young keeper on the bench now. Mings wasn't a top 4 keeper, but not a bad keeper. He was also behind a pretty awful defence for msot of his time - although, granted, he did very little to try and organise them, or command his area. He'd probably do better behind a defence that didn't need a keeper shouting at them constantly (as he doesn't seem to do that).

Alisson is streets ahead though - commands his area, distributes well, inspires confidence.

Saw this photo as part of a trite meme on Facebook earlier - but I snipped out the picture. Taken around 1970/71 just before Kevin Keegan signed and before Ron Yeats and Tommy Lawrence left the club. Team photo lined up in the car park! How times have changed.
