In fairness adam that's not what you guys did though was it on top of the pc money you spent another 100 odd million and then still claimed it was a net window because ticket money from the stand and cup run money. That's when it started getting stupid.
Liverpool have spent a fortune and not only have they earned the right to spend it but they spent it very well. What's wrong with admitting that?
I don't think anyone had said you should walk the league but after spending a quarter of a billion quid on a team that already got to the cl final then you should certainly be challenging for it which you are. Again whats wrong with admitting that?
Yes we spent 100m net last season.Liverpool have spent a fortune and not only have they earned the right to spend it but they spent it very well. What's wrong with admitting that?

We spent it pretty well so should be doing better than last year and not be 25 points behind City this year
Yes that is a lot of money,
if we spent that every year.
Yes I confused things by introducing CL money which is more a helpful recouping of spend which might not have occurred.
Yes you don’t spend anything.
I am only contesting two very simple points:
1. Banging on about 250m investment is stupid when we sold our best player which paid for 60% of that, we invested 100m in the squad
2. Taking only one years spend (selectively the only year in the last 5 when we spent a lot) is also stupid when a squad is built over 4-5 years. And as I linked, over last 5 years we have spent less than all the top 6 apart from you lot
But I can see I wont get you lot to admit any of that either, so let’s agree to disagree.
Hope Everton give you a decent game.

Point two I completely agree with.We spent it pretty well so should be doing better than last year and not be 25 points behind City this year

Point one I don't think anyone was banging on about it iirc it was you that bought it up? I just corrected some of your figure work (wish I hadn't now ) other than that I agree with the investment figure you tried to pretend it was a zero net spend...
Anyway it's probably derailed this thread enough.
Everton tomorrow that won't be easy
I think a lot of people (sometimes deliberately) miss or leave out context when they talk about clubs spending.
Saying LFC have spent £250m in a transfer window tells you nothing other than the total spend.
A decade ago Man City had a relatively worthless team and have spent hundreds of millions to get where they are. I think when people talk about buying the league this is generally what they mean. Buying the best players in each position, ready made stars, and just keep plowing money in replacing any failures until you get a set up that works.
Comparing City to LFC is completely disingenuous. We didn't want to sell Suarez or Coutinho and would have built teams around either of them. However they wanted to go and so we had to reinvest the money. We've also bought the likes of Robertson and Wijnaldum from relegated teams and improved them and brought through Gomez and Trent from youth. We had two missing pieces, a commanding CB and a decent keeper. We've used money we've generated from our own income to buy the best we could afford.
To use a motorsport analogy. It's like Williams F1. They don't necessarily have the budget of the top teams, but if they spend 2-3 seasons under-investing in order to afford a real go at a new car when the regs next massively change, no one would say they're buying the championship, we'd all be saying they'd invested wisely.

Jesus it’s not even half way. 6 points is nothing, why give up? Plenty can and will happen before May
Good lord. Havent you listened to the commentary of literally any two teams this season? City are the only ones realistically capable of beating the dippers and they are currently being taken to school by Hodgson.
Just seen Townsend's goal too. Bloody hell. What a hit.
Fantastic result. Thing is with city as good as they are last year they were never under any pressure. With Liverpool and to a lesser extent us getting the results we have they are under pressure for the first time.
Also pep has been bought in to win the CL not the PL so that's where thier focus is.
