To be fair I could name most of those scousers banned. At least 6 as I recall. In fact there was either 6 or just one constantly being banned.

We really seriously missed a proper midfield today. We have no one who can control the tempo of the game - break up the oppositions possession, put their foot on the ball slow things down and recycle in to an attack. When Son and Eriksen are dropping in to the back line to collect the ball you know you have a problem. Today was the sort of game that was crying out for the Dembele of 2+ seasons ago. Winks and Skipp are not that player and Wanyama is a shadow of the player he was (though giving him the benefit of the doubt maybe he needs game time and a run without being injured).

Anyone have any idea when Dyer will be back? We badly need to sort things out for Dortmund or we're going to get overrun.

Currently you are 3 points ahead of United, 4 ahead of Arsenal and 8 ahead of Chelsea who have two games in hand. There’s an assumption that Chelsea win those games, but if they do then all 4 teams are within 4 points of you. Arsenal are the least of your worries as we could be arguing over the Europa League places in 5th and 6th.

If you lose one more before the others do, then you drop to 5th, potentially even 6th. Your next 5 games are Southampton away, Liverpool away, Brighton home, Huddersfield home, Man City away. I don’t think you’ll win all of those. Equally the other teams have a tough match, but I don’t see all of them losing / dropping points in two matches in the next 5, which you probably will.

Brilliant. Most of what I’ve stated is fact. The only “if” in there is whether Chelsea win their games in hand and how many matches you drop points in of the next 5. It’s a shame there’s such a break, as I reckon you’ll be outside the top 4 after the next 4 matches.

But of course, I’m just making it all up and you’ve got an unassailable lead in 3rd.

Top 4 finish has always been the target. We must open the new stadium with CL football. If we don't make the top 4 this season I would see that as a failure regardless of who we haven't bought etc.
