The Official Manchester United Thread (Vol 8)
Discussion
If we had the defense working like last year (2nd best I believe goals against) then we'd already be in the top 4 or 5, its let us down but recent glimpses of lindo and Smalling suggest they can work together. Lukaku and Sanchez both needed dropping and a rest, jose took the brave pills when the heat was on. We are lacking quality still though in areas that's a fact and the Jan window won't fix that I suspect. City have fabulous squad depth and can switch it around, we are goosed at present in certain spots for strong back up.

If they lose one more prem game they’ll be smashing up buses and everything! Christ they lost the other day in the champions league and all hell broke loose on their thread! :-)

My take in it now is there is no real pressure on Utd going into Sunday. It's all on city, at home. They are playing exceptionally well and are expected to beat us, everyone is thinking we got lucky against juve and so if we lose it's not the end of the season and changes nothing. If we get a point or win it's further evidence of improvement or "lucky" again.
It could be a humdinger of a game or a boring draw but we can go now with nothing to lose.
Jose has settled down about being open and too honest in public about his players, who to be fair were playing ste at the time and needed dropping or telling in private that's all.
I'm looking forward to it whereas a few weeks ago the players and manager were all out of confidence and team work.
Bring it on.
But how many more years can you afford to be being seen as Manchesters 2nd club? A drubbing at the weekend and it'll just reinforce that - especially amongst the kids growing up today who only remember City as being the team to beat each season. It could be a humdinger of a game or a boring draw but we can go now with nothing to lose.

The pressure is on you not to lose. City can afford the odd slap in the face as long as they keep winning the league. The great United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal sides of past all took the odd beating.
As a neutral I never thought I'd see this situation come to pass and I'm sure the board are equally aware of the impact this is having on football fans around the globe. I'd say you must not lose rather than they must win.
Interesting times.

We’ll never be Manchester’s second club. We’ll always be bigger than City. The pressure is on you not to lose. City can afford the odd slap in the face as long as they keep winning the league. The great United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal sides of past all took the odd beating.

There’s pressure on both teams for different reasons. Realistically there’s pressure on us to keep in touch with the top teams. A win against City is pretty much a must we’d be just 7 points off the top as a maximum if we win. There’s pressure on them to stay top and maintain an unbeaten run.
It should be an epic. The nervous energy starts now.

Can’t imagine having to ask Pogba and Jose to record a video begging United fans to show up for a champions league game.
We are going to win on Sunday.
Looks like Danny Welbeck suffered a pretty bad break last night by sound of it. Always liked him but he never seemed to achieve the top of what he could have been. Let's hope it's not the end of his career and just a season long injury at worst.
On other derby news - Utd for the win! Sheff Utd that is as it's the local derby tonight and just as fierce if not worse than the Manchester derby. Piss bombs and flares at the ready apparently. Eejitts!
