Seems like the 10 outfield players, 8 of whom were playing for a potential starting position vs spurs, opted to start that match on the Sofa. Oh well, makes Ole's job easier.
I guess we could say it was about doing the bare minimum to get a result, but what a strange performance. Saw nothing from McTominay, Pereira or Fred that will give Matic, Pogba and Herrera any sleepless nights at all. A shame for Chong that when he came on the rest just weren't interested in scoring.

Generally disappointing after the last few weeks. Even with the wholesale changes we should still have shown more than that.
I know he wasn’t on for long but I saw nothing special about Chong. Up against opposition whose heads were already down he was fast and ran around well but kept almost giving the ball away like Fred.

The team were clearly in “seeing it out” mode and he often had the ball with nobody to pass to except backwards. He’s top class.I know he wasn’t on for long but I saw nothing special about Chong. I know it’s hard when you’ve nothing available. Suppose we’ll see if he ever gets a meaningful go. Maybe I’ll nip up the road to LSV to watch them. Poor second half with the job done. I thought that Ole would have encouraged the boys to try and get in behind a bit more in the second half following on from his "we score one, we go for two, we get two, we go for three" speech from the other week. Lots of changes obviously didn't help but we were under little or no threat from Reading really. Fingers crossed nothing too serious with Sanchez.
We're in the 4th round and that's what matters. Ole, the first United Manager to win his first 5 games apparently. His humility won't allow him to take too much credit I don't suppose.
Hopefully the lads will have a good training break in Dubai and come back good and ready for Spurs.
GGMU!

The problem is with mctominey ,Fred is that Reading are their level.
The whole midfield isn’t good enough. I know you rate Perry, but he’s a cleverly plus a bit. franki68 said:

McTominay looked ok today. Fred was ok in parts but lost the ball a few times.
Looks like Sanchez hamstring issues again, no great loss at the moment altho he does give 110% at all times. My dad enjoyed it today even though it dropped away 2nd half.
4th round draw may be kind but we need the first 11 back on fire against spurs now.
Apparently Sir Matt Busby also won his first 5 so next week will kill or cure that record lol.

Match day. An early start for OT. Taking my grandson for his first pilgrimage. Hoping that Ole fields some star players and we score a few.
I’ve been to too many of these matches against lower opposition where we have fluffed badly.
York City comes to mind.
Come On!

Hope he enjoys the experience.
The performance was adequate if uninspiring.
Keep these wins coming Ole.

Got to say well done Newport for putting Leicester out, proper FA cup story today.
Pogba apparently has stayed home for treatment, much as this feels strange to say we really will miss him if unfit next week.
