Discussion
Ah what goes around comes around, Arsenal fans probably saying they bossed the match and deserved to win. Anybody remember the 1-0 FA Cup Final where Man U battered Arsenal without scoring, didn't hear much whinging then :-)
For what it's worth I thought 1-3 was a bit flattering, but they were poor final third, Ramsey looked good and Iwobi in flashes but we were quick to get back and I saw Lacazette at right back in the second half, they looked a bit chaotic - being generous they'd lost a couple of defenders to injury. Thes that take the chances wins the games. Bumps in the road ahead (PSG, Liv etc) but Ole is showing some class I didn't expect, suspect it's not all him and bringing Phelan back was a good move. For me he can stay already, give him a couple of seasons.

And? What chances did they create where they should have scored? It was sideways all game pretty much - and a scrappy goal. The only other close one was right at the start of the second half. That was pretty much it.
Agreed. They were toothless within 15 yards of the goal; too much trying to open the lock with a killer pass in the box. Good for 5 a side, but that's about it.Tv pundits also stated arsenal taking too many touches and walking ball into net if they could. Which they couldn't!
Classic swift counter attacks, Utd comfortable at all times tonight. Not like the games of old with Keane and vierra though. Thought the stadium totally lacked atmosphere from home fans tonight.

It did but they didn’t have a lot to cheer about. What happened towards the end with Jesse and Rash? Was the other side to where we were so didn’t see why it all kicked off - that was a bit old days, but the rest was very comfortable. Arsenal’s defence was disgraceful.
They need to spend some serious money there.
Doesn't matter how much money anyone throws at a defence if four defenders charge towards the ball like they did to allow Sanchez in for the goal. Need organising before chucking new players in the mix. Like watching U9 football. They need to spend some serious money there.
I think it’s a little harsh to blame the defenders for not tracking Sanchez with that run. All they could reasonably do was try to get him offside IMO.
As someone mentioned above, Arsenal were likely to dominate possession given the setup of both teams. Neville summed it up well at half time, United’s front three - and probably not their strongest front three - are simply better.
The interview with the win over Spurs summed up Ole for me. He said something along the lines of, “We’re Man United of course we expect to win every game”. The conviction in which he said it showed it was an absolute belief of his, as if any other different view would be absurd.
Music to the ears of the fans, I’m sure.
I expect yesterday’s substitutions were rather welcome too. 2-1 up away from home with 30ish (?) minutes to go. Lock-up and protect the lead or bring Martial and Rashford on? I can’t imagine the previous three managers would have made those substitutions.
I have fond memories of going to Old Trafford as a child with my dad in the late 90s early 00s, so think it would be fitting to give Ole a couple of seasons of he can sustain quality form for the rest of the season.

Also, this shouldnt be allowed to happen. If 3 ManUtd attackers are on your half way line you cant allow that much space behind you with only 2 defenders there

Because Sanchez is a better striker?
ETA. And so is Lingard.

It worked well with him out wide. He isn’t good to be a main striker through the middle as his touch is shocking. Sticking out wide and letting him run at people is much better.
Lingard is very good at making runs behind the centre half’s, and also plenty of energy to track players back and help out the midfield.

As a City fan I've got to say fair play to Ole, almost unbelievable since he took over.
Well Done.
If United don't hire him they're mad.
He's having a great time at the moment, be interesting to see what happens when they lose a match or go through a poor run of form.Well Done.

It has to happen soon. hopefully

Mostly handbags about a perceived headbutt but someone in the crowd threw a coin at the end of it.Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
