DDG is a very good keeper and has kept you in more games than he has made mistakes. But he does have some technical issues which let him down like they did yesterday.
It takes a braver man than me to criticise DDG. I think his form is patchy at the mo but to criticise his technique when he's widely regarded as being one of, if not the, best goalkeeper in the world is a stretch for me. He's one of our only truly world class performers and you'll not get many United fans disagreeing with me I shouldn't think.
Brave? Not sure why I need to be brave to highlight a technical problem with a player.
As a goalkeeping coach. Albeit at grassroots. I have, and continue to study the technique of keepers at different levels. I didn't criticise him either. You can find small technical faults with every player. Even Messi and Ronaldo.

Sometimes DDGs backwards arm swing helps him. Particular where he needs leverage to dive or jump high. The trade off is when making saves at close range. He doesn't have the time to get his hand up where they need to be.

United have spent a fortune too, not in the same league (pun intended), but certainly far more than the teams battling it out for the top 5. I know they’ve cooked the books significantly, but they still need to spend it well, which they have. They’ve built something that will take a lot of effort to get wrong now, exactly as you say that a monkey could win them the league.

There is plenty that’s wrong at United. For me Woodward is incapable of running the football side and is too involved in the commercial side still, the Glazers are now starting to suffer for years of underinvestment from about 10 years or so ago. Their income stream will start to dry up soon as well.
I agree it’s badly run. Woodward needs to do what he’s good at - and that’s not being CEO, and we need a big overhaul.

DDG does seem to have this kinda default sometimes where he puts his arms wide and low and tries to save with his legs ... sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It's interesting to see how different keeps react to the same situation - a one-on-one etc.

We know that Edison can't resist the 55-45 ball though! And a penalty invariably results ...

Well yeah, we all know that but he's ( Woodward ) doing a good job for the owners of the club.

No he’s not. Medium to long term revenues will fall, as the club’s lack of success starts to bite.

As awful as they are they are still the biggest club in the world with a global support of billions.

i think they will be just fine.

They are, but that’s historic from a world where publicity was hard to get. Nowadays social media means you can be in nearly every home in the world in seconds. City’s Amazon documentary is genius and brilliant at raising their profile, as is their ownership / tie ins with a few other clubs, especially in the US and emerging markets.

Lack of CL football, or any prolonged participation in the competition will make keeping them relevant much harder.

Liverpool and spurs haven't put a realistic title challenge in for 30yrs lol. And let's not talk about Arsenal recently lol.
I know you are understandably hacked off by some WUMs on here but let's try to keep things a little bit factual - even you have to admit Liverpool put in a realistic challenge in 2013/4 - we lost to City by 2 points and were leading until the very end

that was 4 years ago not 30

(we were only 4 points behind you lot in 08/09)

You have to question how much longer that can continue when you have a CEO who’s more interested in how much revenue a player can generate in merchandise sales, a manager who’s no longer anywhere near the best, and who brings controversy to the club, disenfranchised players and fans. All this results in us not being good enough on the pitch, and not a poster boy club. That will eventually hurt revenues and brand.

He's making the club loads of money & he's given Jose nigh on £400m to spend on players !

You definitely sure it's all his fault ? £400M that's an awful lot of money.

Anyone can "give" away somebody else's money.

The big money signings have generally been a disaster, Lukaku, Alexis, Fred, Pogba...…..bearing in mind the huge fees and wages involved.

I didn’t say it was ALL his fault. But he’s at fault. He doesn’t sneeze without asking the Glazers for permission and he’s clueless as to how to deal with agents. He’s not a CEO of a football club. He’s a marketing guy.

Posting here as there’s probably no point posting in the City thread due to the lack of footfall but what’s everybodies opinion on City’s youth/academy players in their first team?
