OK, so the end game is an appreciating asset, the money in goes out on players, no cash withdrawals and they buy a bit of kudos.
Ideally they would like to take a dividend too of courseFSG bought Liverpool for £300M and were apparently offered £2bn by Mansours cousin
Now the purchase was in unusual distressed circumstances but that's a hell of a return, we won't get that sort commercial explosion again I expect but clubs are getting better at commercializing their brand, expanding footprint in US and Asia (especially yours) so there is probably extra asset growth to come

Posting here as there’s probably no point posting in the City thread due to the lack of footfall but what’s everybodies opinion on City’s youth/academy players in their first team?
We had 2 youth team products starting the derby ,city had none .That tells you all you need to know .uk66fastback said:
What it must be like living in Manchester as a Utd fan now Citeh are lording it and winning matches ... !
Before, they were just an irrelevance ... no wonder annie is turning bitter ... !
There are far more reds where I live than blues thankfully, so we can all cry into our pints together. Before, they were just an irrelevance ... no wonder annie is turning bitter ... !
It has been noticeable watching the meerkats over the last few years popping their heads up.

The sense of entitlement from ManU fans is massively amusing.
You have had your time, and like Liverpool before. You will now spend your time fighting to win the of League or FA cup.
Suck it up butter cups.
And hasn't Jose spent £400mill?

I don't know anybody that feels as though we're entitled to win anything and yes, we've spent plenty.
There is a possibility you may be right, it may take us years to get back to a position where we are competing for the premier league. You may also be wrong. Time will tell.
What I know is that we need to improve pretty dramatically from where we are right now and that isn't going to be an easy task.
Money to spend isn’t an issue and probably never has been, or will be. It’s how it’s spent and who by. As I said earlier in a lengthy post United seem to be being run badly and throwing good money after bad is never a good move.
They still have the ability to attract top players and to pay top wages, so the issue is that the squad is generally poor and needs clearing out, alongside a new manager and CEO.
City have built a strong base, as much as everyone goes on about Pep, City have a lot of experienced football people running the club. Their youth academy is very good, even if it will never produce a first XI player. It will produce lots of income when selling dozens of U21 players for £5-10m each year to the lower PL teams.
Leicester aren’t exactly squeaky clean in the money front either. Their (sadly deceased) owner spunked shedloads into that club and his son looks like continuing (possibly accelerating) that trend.

What it tells me is that Utds youth academy aren’t turning out the diamonds they used to,.
Out of interest how many of Jose’s signings were in the startinfg line up?
Everyone remembers the Scholes / Neville/ Beckham output, but that was a one off, it’s been hard work, before and since to really produce quality. Whilst United have this record of always having a youth player in their squad seemingly stretching back to Fred Flintstone, there hasn’t really been that much quality. Out of interest how many of Jose’s signings were in the startinfg line up?

To be fair you'd still class pogba as one who has come through the academy + lingard and Rashford... thats not bad and better than most. Out of interest how many of Jose’s signings were in the startinfg line up?
It is hard to decide which is the most distasteful method of funding a football club...
Relying on a rich sugar daddy (As utd have done in the past)
or
Being saddled with huge levels of debt and opening your legs to any and all commercial sponsors, affiliates and official partners who happen to wave a tenner in your direction, regardless of how hilariously obscure they happen to be. (As utd currently do)
