I think Ramsey has lots of talent , I would be happy if we went for him, I would see him as another OX that needs a change
Difference of opinions is surely what these forums are all about .

We all know that Manchester United could buy anyone they want with the financial muscle they have & every footballer on the planet is available at a price.
See that's what I don't agree with. United are working to budget constraints. Sure it looks as though there was some more money available in the Summer last year when we were looking at buying Harry Maguire but due to Leicester maintaining their position that he wasn't available at any price we couldn't do a deal. Plus the fact that the artifically inflated prices of the oil countries paying literally whatever they want to buy players has pushed up prices of the likes of Kane to astronomical levels.

And are you not glad they didnt stump up the 75m he is never a 75m player, 25/30 at tops, a couple of good headed goals in the summer and suddenly he was amazing.... he is a 6/7 out of 10 defender

I like Maguire, I think he could make a positive difference at Old Trafford maybe for the next 10 years, that's what excites me about him. I think the price is almost irrelevant really, similar to VVD at Liverpool. It's because of the price of Neymar, Mbappe etc that prices for good but not exceptional players have been dragged along.

Frankly I don't care what the club pay for players as long as they can buy them within the budget allowed. I don't think these players are worth anything like the amounts being paid for them but that's a whole 'nother story.

edited to add: We were paying £30M for top young centre backs 15 years ago so in the grand scheme....

except anyone with half a football brain who had watch VVD could see he was top draw - McGuire is not close to his level, he is a bit of an upgrade on Smalling thats it.

He is no where near as good as VVD, TOBY, etc TBH Gomez is better now

For that money their is far better CB's

Kalidou Koulibaly Napoli and de Ligt Ajax would be far better way of spending your money

There are actually very few decent centre halves around.
I agree about Ramsey a good player and would be an upgrade on most of our midfield, you’d need a strong holding player to go alongside him though ,as he’s defensively crap.

Based on our success rate of the last 10 years transfers, probably about 10 to get 2 decent players.

We had the 2nd best defensive record in the prem last year without the players you're suggesting. Now I'm not saying that we don't need somebody but I think that largely as the attitude has shifted this year (without the desired results) that's what's made most of the difference up to now.

It's easy to level this at the centre backs but the fact is the whole team is culpable for what's happened so far.

I happen to think Jose has played defensively because the defenders are less than wonderful. With a decent base, he may well let the midfield push on more so to make that happen, we do need to buy those 10 CBs smile

How much of that do you put down to Jose's very public pursuit of any half decent cbs on the market this summer?. By doing so he was effectively issuing a vote of no confidence to the current CBs ( some of which he even bought).

I heard somewhere that you let in 29 goals in the whole of last season, this year you've already let in 20. These are the same players, what has changed?

Are teams having more a go at you this year ? Exposing your slow CM and uncertainty in defence..
Also DDG has not been at his normal level this season he saved your bacon so many times last yr

I don't put any of it down to that really. I actually think Linda and Smalling individually have done OK. Rojo has been mostly injured and I'm sure accepts that we need cover for him, Bailly hasn't stepped up when needed. Jones is Jones. I think that his pursuit of a CB is with a view to going 3 at the back, he tried it a couple of times in pre-season.

There is less protection being given to the back 4, the aim being to win the ball and launch quick counters. I'm not saying that's our main strategy but when out of possession we seem less willing to get back into a deep block. He's chasing goals but for that you can blame Pogba and the (ever changing) front 3.

We let in 28 in the league last season. 1 more than City.

Yes they are. They know United are there for the taking and they’re going at them trying to score early and maybe even get a second, rather than sitting back and trying to nick a late winner

If you do that deal then any credibility any of you had is gone if you continue to support the club. The same goes for any fans of any club where they sell to the Middle East. I’d hope the smaller clubs would see a boost in matchgoing fans if this happens.

Matthijs de Ligt will cost fortunes but he does look the real deal .

I think Nemanja Matic must take some of the blame for United’s current defensive woes , he doesn’t look half the he player he did year .

Is Eric Bailly injured ? He also looked good last season .

Toby Alderwireld should be available soon as it’s clear Spurs are not going to pay him what he wants but he’d only be a short term thing given his age .

I’d happily swap Toby for Eric .

Everyone costs fortunes, he would prob be 50m like Gomez would be now if he was on the market - both top class CB's who you would have for years - plus he is worth it and UTD can afford it

you do crack me up laugh Deligit is the most sort after CB on the planet right now he's in a different stratosphere to Gomez as good as he is.
