Fair score at the end. Well played wolves.

One thing we do need this summer is another attacking option. Sanchez is finished, and when lukaku is injured we rely too much on martial who is a bit inconsistent. That then leaves Rash on his own. No real attacking threat whatsoever tonight. An Eden Hazard type attacker is a must. Bale anyone or is he done?

City fan in peace here, but I said in a post above, Wolves are very very good, that was not an easy tie by any stretch.

Matic looked ok to me tonight to be fair he had a couple of probing runs forward. He is slowing tho. We've had 2 games where we have shown our attacking limitations now but no embarrassment tonight. I wouldn't want to draw wolves in the semi, I'm sticking a tenner on them winning it if they keep that up.

Bale's effectively done, would be a poor choice I think, as likely another Sanchez as anything. We need to think 5 years younger at least. It's not just Martial though, consistentcy wise - all of our forwards have it in them - Lingard was just as poor tonight really. I'm sure they have a plan though, Ole was just saying in the week about buying players with longevity.

Terrible performance and tactics. Out thought, out worked and out performed.

Well done Wolves and bye bye our treble.

Fair point and fair summary. Wolves picked up in the 2nd half whereas Utd didn't.

Indeed, and your lot would know all about the easy ties tongue out. J/k, you are 100% right. Wolves are really very good, they have a style and its effective and if the opposition cant deal with a packed defense, like we often cannot, then they are a real problem when they break. Hope they win it now.

No disgrace in losing to Wolves, they're a really good side, & managed very well too.

Utd hit a packed defense and run out of options plus we didn't get any crosses in, rash and martial playing way too wide and it never clicked really. Pogba was snuffed and had a real poor match. I was quite pleased with Utd midfield and defense as such till first goal, that was always going to decide tonight's game.
Wolves v City final with the whole country behind wolves ? :-)

Wolves did play well and we had no answer tonight when they broke.
I’m really not in favour of these Saturday night matches, my weekend is spoiled now. At least I can drown my sorrows because it’s not a school night!

Wolves are a well organised team & they are not to be under estimated. Not that united did tonight.

United looked complacent tonight & i don't mean that as a bad thing.

Wolves seem to want it more.

We were terrible. Devoid of any ideas going forward. Those corners were so LVG. We got it wrong big time.

I think this is a big part of it - we just weren't willing to commit as much to the game.

I don't know why - maybe we just want to free up the calendar for rest of the season, but I doubt it was this. Maybe we were affected by having too many returning from injury and not wanting to risk themselves. We did look very tired I thought, perhaps the extra effort wanted from Ole earlier in the last few months is catching up with them and this game, which probably is their lowest priority, was the game for it to come out - against a very committed team with nothing to lose.

International break now, which usually I loathe, but I think it actually has come at a good time for us. The only downer is Pogba, who looks as gassed as any, will be away with France.

I know many won’t agree with me, but I’d ship Pogba and maybe martial. They are fair weather, luxury players. Don’t play for the team, and when things aren’t going well, are often not the answer. I’d bring the scouse midget in from Barca if he’s available and ship Pog to their rivals.

I can see your point, but I think we are then having to look at a lot of changes in the summer - there are other positions to sort out first. I think for me they are in the camp of 'if we get a massive offer then we have to consider it' but we shouldn't be actively looking at them just yet. They were both shocking tonight though, so if it keeps happening...

Whoever comes in on the right hand side will hopefully balance things more to prevent the left being so easily focused by our opposition too, which will help them operate more. We've seen when Dalot plays on the right how much more room our left has - unfortunately this was when Tony was out injured. The problem they both have is they are pretty much the creative force (certainly Pogba) and we have no alternative- so when they aren't at the races it shows so much. If we have better quality elsewhere they may benefit.

Positives- Dalot seems to have settled in. Lindylop is looking good. Romero is a great back up, lingard getting back from injury. Herrera altho fiery looks good.

Negatives- lack of attacking ideas and crossing. Martial blowing hot n cold. Rash needs support. Lukaku injured and not yet firing in the team consistently. PSG win seems to have taken a lot out of em. Matic and Mata easing towards the later yrs of careers. Not got the strength in depth of ultra quality game changers like perhaps city and Liverpool currently.

5th place and not much difference to wolves position wise sums us up to be fair this season. The OGS factor has inspired better than average results from an average Utd team.
That's it really! No one really thought any different as far as I'm concerned.

you are right there kidda, i just hope the more fickle devils fans don’t turn on their players
and manager because of the reality check. * looks above * nope looks like that’s started already.

Agree, terrible.

Didn't see Martial do anything worth being on the pitch, Rash couldn't get anything going, Pogba didn't control the midfield, Sergio probably could have done a bit better.. Not good at all.

But, Wolves were/are very good and I'm glad to see them doing well.

Ord isn't representative of 99% of Utd fans he tends to panic a lot by look of it.
Huge majority of Utd fans know OGS needs 3-5yrs and financial backing to make any proper impact, if he is given the chance he's earned.
I've enjoyed this season as it's reminded people of everything good (and bad) about being a true supporter.
