Give him some transfer budget now and a few years to bed it all in. Not two seasons and expecting the world, it's a longer term rebuild right through the club.
Very happy they've done it and the timing is right for a last push this season now.
Really? A few years before expecting anything?

You have some average players in your squad but surely the recent run of form shows you're already easily a top four side?

I'd say, with the right transfers each summer, next season you guys should be competing for top 2 - 3 and the season after that you should be title contenders.

Especially if City get put on a transfer ban for FFP.

Not sure where I saw it, but Molde's season starts this weekend...perhaps had something to do with it.

Liverpool fans are still waiting 4 years after Klopp's appointment for any silverware so I think we can give Ole some time too, not to just finish top 4 but to win the league.

As for FFP transfer bans I think it will be a lesson to City to play by the rules (if they've not already learned that) but other than that I'm not bothered about City or Chelsea for that matter. I'm only bothered about what shape we are in at the start of next season and as 200 alludes to, how the rest of this season pans out.

City will get a pathetic fine and slap on the wrist,I wouldn't hold you breath for them to be suitably punished.

It removes any uncertainty for the players, particularly those who have only a year left on contracts.

Absolutely delighted with the news. Phelan just needs to put an end to his Aussie commitments and then we’ve a pretty strong coaching line up for the next few years. They’ve done exceptionally well in the short time Ole has been in charge.

Interesting few weeks ahead.

IIRC they had the fine reduced from a 50M Euro fine down to about 12, so they'll maybe have to pay the balance of that? But a transfer ban for a couple of seasons would help some us to catch up and maybe surpass...

As you say, not holding my breath though.

I'd say we were in a much worse state when Klopp took over than what you are now. This was his first lineup:

In 3.5 years he's taken us from that to Champions League qualification, Europe league final, Champions League final and we're currently top of the table against an incredible Man City side! We've also had money diverted in that time for a stadium expansion and new training facilities and we've still posted a record profit last year.

I don't think expecting Ole, in charge of one of the clubs with the most revenue in the world, to be challenging for the title in the next two seasons is expecting too much.

Since Ole took over, Utd have had title-winning form, so I don't think it is unrealistic to expect a challenge in the next couple of years. But there is a lot of work to be done shipping out bad players in brining in better.

I also could not give 2 sts if he has not won us an fa cup or league cup

he could have won 5 of them but had us battling 5th,4th and trust me I would not be happy, its all about the big ones now, and he has us challenging which in 3 years and a 93m net spend is a minor mirracle considering he came into a team 8th

Speaking of genuises, the boss gave an interview to the British Broadcast Community:

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47704834

"At the moment there is a structure with a scouting division and above that is someone at Woodward's right hand. The structure is not so bad but the right hand has to be a technical director with a football view, not somebody with a banker's role," Van Gaal says.
"Unfortunately, we are talking about a commercial club, not a football club. I spoke to Ferguson about this and in his last years, he also had problems with it."

Shame Louis didn’t know his right hand from his left.

Indeed a shame, United doesn't seem to be a football club for more than a decade now.

As I pointed out a few times already; United is a commercial monstrosity first and foremost.

Unlike all the other big clubs, most of which are run as charities.

Where have you been? You’ve been missed.

For what it’s worth I found LVG immensely entertaining as a human being but he brought tactics to Old Trafford that had served Holland well in the World Cup that failed in the premier league. He was a character though and embraced Manchester. Unlike his successor.

But LVGs chapter is long gone.

True. He was his own man. But his football was 20 years out of date, and he was very quickly found out.
