Today's win was marred by disgusting booing of the German anthem by thousands of England fans.

These fans have been waiting for this moment for a long time, and this is how they 'celebrate'.

What utter trash.
Wimbledon was on BBC2. You might have preferred that.
C70R on this thread is like you behave on the mask threads. So alike.
That's unfair.

I'm not running around, starting new threads for attention. I'm just updating a thread started by someone else.

Football fans: "Why do other sports' fans look down on us? Such snobs.'

Also football fans: "If you don't like xenophobia, go watch another sport."

You actually couldn't make this up

Embarrassing. Also noticed one of the GB News presenters tweeted "two world wars and one world cup". Pretty shameful.

Gammon Brexit news tweeting what their followers are thinking. Well I'm shocked.

Cringeworthy, like an old version of TopGear with Clarkson and May making WW2 references all the time.

I’ve been attending top level football since the 1960’s. Back then and the 70’s there was much more violence, racism and general abuse. Thankfully matters have improved probably due to technology as in cctv etc., and better facilities such as all seater stadiums.

The fact remains that as our most popular sport football attracts a share of ‘brain deads’. I also didn’t appreciate the booing of the German National Anthem or abuse of their players. It’s not going to stop though so seriously if it bothers you so much you need to find something else to watch.

It's the slight irony of a bunch of xenophobic, nationalistic types booing an anthem because of a war won against... a bunch of xenophobic, nationalistic types.

But, you know, "There were 10 German bombers" etc..

Booing the opposition's anthem has a long tradition in football and it's not just our fans,it's pretty much universal.

The crowd are often called the twelfth man in football because they can cheer the home team and get under the skins of the away team. They aren't gonna affect much by sitting there like puddings and clapping politely, it's not the bleeding opera.

This isn't an anti-England crusade.

This is trying to enlighten folks on why it's scummy to boo the opposition anthem.

Why is football the only sport in which this is endemic?

Because nothing engenders ignorant, toxic tribalism quite like football

Has to be said you don't really need to add anything else to that. C bomb edited out yes someone called a very young child a c bomb which isn't shocking but then again I don't shock easily.

I do hope Ukraine pump England btw for more reasons than above. Then we can get back to regular non football related spite

If that image is supposed to shock me you're so wrong, we all know football has problems but so does does other sports, It's a thousand times better than what it used to be like at matches so maybe one day it will be eradicated.

But that's the thing that bothers me.

Why is football SO MUCH worse than other sports? Why do fans accept that kind of behaviour as "part of the sport"?

Who said it's accepted? No one I know accepts it, trouble at football matches is normally outside the grounds now and any trouble inside is normally dealt with quickly.

Trouble at all sports events is common due to alcohol just look at the mass fights at horse racing.

Racism and xenophobia regularly happen inside the ground. This is almost uniquely a football issue.

Drunk chavs fighting at horse racing isn't the same as thousands of people singing a song about the death of opposition players. Again, a football issue.
