What the **** is wrong with people?

I can't imagine why you seem to keen to make this a catch-all 'racism in sport' thread. It's almost like you're trying to deflect from the issue at hand.
We saw poor behaviour and arrests among fans across the Championship yesterday, yet it had nothing to do with racism (as far as I'm aware). Strangely enough the England Women's celebration in London managed to happen without any arrests or violence yesterday.
Imagine if that had been the men's team? Look at what they did before a fairly inconsequential n Nation's League match... https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/jun/07/e...
Nazi salutes, assaulting police, urinating in the street. It's feral.

1) Why do you think football fans behave in such a manner? We saw poor behaviour and arrests among fans across the Championship yesterday, yet it had nothing to do with racism (as far as I'm aware). Strangely enough the England Women's celebration in London managed to happen without any arrests or violence yesterday.

2) i) Are the same fans also spoiling cricket and rugby (lets not forget the institutional racism highlighted in the administration of the sports too)?
ii) If not then why are these sports also experiencing problems with absolutely abhorrent behaviour by participants and spectators alike?
I've really got no idea.
This was the situation in the streets before a pre-season friendly between Rangers and Tottenham a week ago, two teams with no real history of animosity or issues. A police officer ended up in hospital with a serious injury after being attacked.

This just doesn't exist in any other sport in the world, and it's nuts that this behaviour is normalised at 'part of the game'.

Watch some boxing as well if you want to see a bit of crowd trouble (obviously after removing your blinkers), or maybe tennis and seeing a player being stabbed by a fan

On the other hand, if you consider groups of masked men roaming the streets, intent on violence and assaulting the police, to be just "a bit of fighting", you might need to reflect on the fact that you're part of the problem with football fans.
Even if it were just "a bit of fighting" (rather than a masked gang assaulting the police), that behaviour has no place in a civilised society, and it literally doesn't happen so habitually in any other sport than football. Why do football fans normalise and encourage this?

You're doing a weird false equivalence thing here, and it's not the strong argument you think it is. Racism is disgusting, no matter where or when, but this thread isn't about institutional racism in sport.

It is a reflection on society. This sort of behaviour goes on in every town every day all over the UK. Football fans are not some sort of hidden community who come out on match days. You cherry pick things which are not a reflection of the other hundreds of football games when violence does not happenOn the other hand, if you consider groups of masked men roaming the streets, intent on violence and assaulting the police, to be just "a bit of fighting", you might need to reflect on the fact that you're part of the problem with football fans.

Again you are pigeon holing violence and football as the only issue in sport when I would argue racism and sexism are far bigger issues that need tackling in sport as well as society. Fighting and violence has occurred since the year dot so to attribute it as a problem only football needs to sort out is pretty stupid. I think you must live in a bubble or are oblivious to daily news to be honest
I've said it before on this thread ban drugs and alcohol and your problem goes away overnight, violence is getting worse everywhere not just at football grounds and surrounding areas on matchdays.
The tribal thing at football goes back to when the sport was invented, social media has just pumped it up recently and fuel that with cheap booze and drugs there's only going to be one outcome. even the governing bodies of the sport recognise it.

I just dont understand the obsession with random people hoying Columbian marching powder up their nose to go to the football. Even going for a couple of pints at the local and there are 9 stone kids bouncing around like a jack in the box thinking they are Tyson FuryThe tribal thing at football goes back to when the sport was invented, social media has just pumped it up recently and fuel that with cheap booze and drugs there's only going to be one outcome. even the governing bodies of the sport recognise it.

Joking aside, there's finally due to be a clampdown on drugs this season, its already started at the friendlies. following the same system as at racing which has also experienced the same problem

Coke is a huge problem now and seems to be getting ever more readily available. My younger brother who, sadly, is a bit of an idiot is now deeply entrenched with a group of “lads” that drink all day fuelled by coke on the weekends.
It seems bigger now than ever. Soon it wont be heat or eat it will be beak, heat or eatpavarotti1980 said:

He's been very clear that he would rather engage in whataboutery than actually admit that football has a problem with its fans.
It seems you are a little bit selective in what you read. Current behaviours are just a reflection of behaviour in society. Its not just football that aholes watch. But keep living in cloud cuckoo land

That is an absolutely mad comparison. Monica Seles was stabbed by a mentally ill, obsessed fan in 1993 - 29 years ago. I wouldn't be surprised if football has had many tens of thousands of stabbings in that time.
football has had thousands of stabbings by obsessed fans on players? Hmmm.....really?C70R said:
This is a sensational example of the exercise of moving a discussion away from a point you can't defend.
Really? you are the one repeatedly comparing football with other sports. Also that is a response to another poster. Can you find something to suggest footballers have been stabbed by fans in their 1000sWhat am I unable to defend?
Stop waffling to distract from the point.
The other poster was quite clearly not referring to players being stabbed by fans. But you know that, and you're just distracting.
One stalker stabbing a tennis player they were obsessed with 29 years ago is a complete irrelevance compared with football's issues. Stop bringing it up.
A policeman was put in hospital at a pre-season friendly. Dozens of English fans were arrested in Germany ahead of a recent meaningless international for a litany of disgusting offences.
Yet every other sport seems to manage a weekend without its 'fans' behaving like this.
Yet apparently football doesn't have a problem.

Given the recent scenes of wanton jubilation, hugging and singing following the Euros, I think that it is men's football that has a problem, rather than football in general. I might be wrong but i don't remember any poor behaviour by fans before or after any of the women's matches. The other poster was quite clearly not referring to players being stabbed by fans.
