Been a football fan for over 50 years and my conclusion is a simple one - a significant proportion of those who follow men's football are morons. Not all by any means but (IMO) there are quite a few who go through the turnstiles who by choice you wouldn't wish to be associated with; however, they happen to support the same team as you so for a couple of hours every other week you're stuck with them if you want to attend games.

Can't say I've felt the same following other sports although to be fair I take less interest in other team sports than I do in football...

Stop waffling to distract from the point.

The other poster was quite clearly not referring to players being stabbed by fans. But you know that, and you're just distracting.

One stalker stabbing a tennis player they were obsessed with 29 years ago is a complete irrelevance compared with football's issues. Stop bringing it up.

A policeman was put in hospital at a pre-season friendly. Dozens of English fans were arrested in Germany ahead of a recent meaningless international for a litany of disgusting offences.

Yet every other sport seems to manage a weekend without its 'fans' behaving like this.

Yet apparently football doesn't have a problem.
When did I say football doesn't have this problem? I said the issues are a reflection of society today. Jump out of your little bubble and realise the world is full of utter aholes and that is not just restricted to football fans. Oh and I will say that 99% of games do not have problems but you keep hanging onto the 1% and attributing that to everything.

Football tends to attract drink coked up morons to tarnish the reputation of everyone.

Cricket has a load of racists

Rugby has a load of pompous middle class oafs

I'm generalising about cricket and rugby from the actions of a small minority but that's ok. You have done the same about football for umpteen pages. All you need is a couple of news headlines

Oh and by the way you ask which other sports have the same problems as football. By your own admission in F1 thread the Italian F1 fans are partial to football fan behaviour

I sort of agree on your point about the Dutch fans. But we've always had a heavy contingent of Italian fans in F1. They, as a country, aren't shy of a bit of football fan behaviour, or a right-wing view or two. Remember the banana incident?
So there you go. You can bracket F1 and football together for unpleasant fan behaviour.

This is actually insane. It's like some sort of mad dystopian future.

Fans of some Dutch club I've never heard of, who've no rivalry to speak of with West Ham, decided to pull on balaclavas and try to assault the family and friends of the opposition players.

This isn't something spontaneous, or a group of people who don't know each other. This is clearly premeditated action from a group of 'ultras'. This clearly isn't their first rodeo - how are people like this not identified and barred from entry? How are they able to get to the opposition players' family and friends?

This sort of thing destroys football's supposed image as a 'family game'.

I seem to have heard a lot of stories lately regarding Dutch fans, whether that's in football or formula 1. They're trying to overtake the English biggrin

Apparently it was in response to the Dutch club's chairman's family being attacked by English fans last week.

This is insane.
