Sissoko's back for tomorrow.
I never ever thought I'd say this but..."Moussa Sissoko and Jan Vertonghen trained and are available for selection. As expected no Harry Kane, Harry Winks, Serge Aurier. Erik Lamela was out jogging on his own."
I think that a clean sheet is imperative tomorrow (unless we win 5-1). Ajax haven't won a home knock game but have won both their away games. If we can stop them scoring and have Son back in the second leg, the away goal could be the decider.
That being said, they'll probably score in the 3rd minute now....

Smarty, not sure why you keep saying we had no injuries.
Ox and Gomez were out most of the season.
Lallana has been out for long periods, as has Lovren.
TAA was out at a crucial part of the season during which we exited both domestic cups. Henders has also been out at times.
I think we've had the 6th or 7th most injuries this season.

I think we've missed some obvious good value players such as Maguire and Maddison. I think Leicester are doing a very good recruitment job at the moment.
Zaha is match winner but would maybe mean too much of a formation change. I think we need to strengthen where we are weakest first. Which is full back and centre midfield. Plus the eternal issue of finding someone capable of covering Kane.

I've said it before, I'd be looking at why we get so many injuries. I don't think it's normal that we get so many.
I completely agree.I don't think you can just look to the skies and blame bad luck. 1) You've sold and released players without replacing them and 2) not bought anyone for a year leading to a thin squad that can't cope with injuries. You've also seemingly done very little to cover for a few players that seem to suffer injuries every year and also done little to try and stop so many injuries from happening.
I'm not sure where people keep coming up with this thin squad argument. OK it's not as full as City's but whose is? I'd say we've coped admirably well with our huge injury list, I think we had 5 or 6 first choice players out at one point. Poch has also done a lot of rotation this year, arguably too much sometimes as our back line hasn't been stable.
I don't think squad strength is the actual root of the problem, players are either being trained too hard\incorrectly or the medical team isn't up to scratch. A lot of players weren't even injured in matches but on the training ground so something is not quite right there.

You guys all seem to rally against the thin squad argument, but all season we've heard how you can't cope with injuries, that you need defensive cover, midfielders and a proper back up for Kane?
Because the point that seems to keep being missed is that we had injuries/absences to the cover players. When your first choice player is out and the cover for that player is also out - any team in the league would struggle in that situation (barring perhaps City).Eg. imagine Salah and Firminho were out injured and Mane went away to the Africa Cup of Nations at the same time, people would be saying "oh how will Liverpool cope they have a paper thin squad no cover for their goal scorers" when you play Sturridge and Origi.
We definitely do need to strengthen in a couple of areas (eg. DM) but to say we have a paper thin squad is a bit lazy TBH.
