Aside from the poor performance, what happened with Verts? How on earth was he allowed to stay on? The officials seemed to think he should have gone off? Looked like the Spurs medical staff and/or coaches wanted him to play on for the sake of the result.
The club are saying that they followed all of the protocols for concussion so was passed fit to rejoin. When he rejoined and play restarted he looked totally away with the fairies. The ball went straight past him. He probably saw three balls and didn't know which one to go for. When he walked to the touchline Poch had to grab him as his legs buckled and he vomited.Pretty shocking really, these "protocols" clearly need looking at as they are not good enough. He should never have been allowed back on.

The good news though is that he left the ground unaided and did some media work and was supposedly fine. Theres no way on earth he should have been allowed back on to the pitch though and if its a full blown concussion would i imagine rule him out of the return which is a shame for him personally and obviously terrible for us.

Ajax = how I was hoping Sarriball would be.......
I was thinking that too. We need to get the National Trading Standards to visit Cobham, we've been sold counterfeit goods. Sorry to hijack the Spurs thread ;-)
They were under huge pressure to get a result which I think massively clouded judgement. In similar circumstances how likely would you be to allow your most experienced defender to come off? It happens all the time in sport unfortunately due to the massively high stakes involved. Football isn't even the worse culprit, try looking at the NFL to see how the players there are treated. Hopefully they'll learn from it.

Tbf - I do think it's a lot to do with the players. Some are just not comfortable enough on the ball to play that way. Ajax 1st half were so composed and didn't panic. Even the keeper was as cool as a cucumber. I look at Dave (Azpi) and he's a great defender but you can see the panic on the ball when he doesn't have much option. Likewise with a few others.

Any professional player will look comfortable on the ball if not under any pressure. Sorry to hijack the Spurs thread ;-)

I hope so too.The alternative would, imo, lead to the decisions on head injuries being taken
away from a clubs medical staff , however innocuous the injury may seem/be.

The thing is, the player isnt going to want to come offFrom what they were saying on the radio this morning its a set of questions such as
Which stadium are we in
What was your last game
Who won?
Whats the score?
And a couple of others I forget
He passed all these and so was allowed back on, obviously unfit but not the medical staffs fault
I'm not sure you can completely absolve the medical staff from blame.
Obviously the test needs to be massively improved upon and someone on Reddit said there is a new saliva test that should be available soon that gives a definitive answer in seconds.
However, Vertonghen was clearly concussed last night. The officials could see it. Surely a professional medical person should look beyond what is required in the test and state their opinion that despite passing the test, he should probably go off and be properly checked out? Otherwise it moves from being a test genuinely concerning the players safety towards merely a paper ticking exercise to allow the club and staff to absolve themselves of any responsibility if they get it wrong.
