A front three of Son, Alli and Lucas is easily top four, possibly even title challenging worthy depending on the players behind them.
Problem is, a front three of Son Alli and Lucas is at least 2 of the 3 same players making the same runs trying to do the same things.jammy-git said:

When Kane has been out previously, it was Llorente acting as a backup.
Nope, when Kane has been out previously, Son and Moura have covered. Llorente was the cover for the cover. Even with Llorente gone we're not exactly short of options for attacking players. If Levy is going to splash any cash this window it needs to be on the defensive side. And this isn't suddenly a new problem, we've been hemorrhaging goals all season.48k said:

Llorente was never cover for Kane, he was plan B when all other attempts to score has failed. To that end, he (or an alternative) was still worth a place in the squad.
RB is an immediate priority as Aurier is a bigger liability than Trippier was. And a midfield grafting leader in midfield to protect the defence.
But as we have never addressed the second striker role, that has now also become essential. Sounds like we are buying this Polish bloke from Milan. I was hoping for the Kosovan lad as he looked a quality player against England.

Unfortunately Piatek would be a sticking plaster and hoofing the ball up to him isn't going to address the most urgent problem of badly leaking goals.

Regardless of budget, what has happened to your scouting? I felt 5-10 years ago you guys were unearthing gems all over the place, but only Lucas and maybe N'dombele have been decent signings in the last few years.
Who was scouted in the extended period when we didn't sign anyone? Without knowing why no purchase were made it's hard to know what's going on with the scouting. The players we have signed have generally been OK, the exception being Sissoko. Some didn't work out but looked good enough to risk when evaluating their history. Who was saying Janssen was terrible before we signed him?
There has been a lack of activity, but no one really knows why. Could be Poch wanted a small, tight squad, maybe we have no money because of the stadium, maybe the scouting network can't identify targets.

You can have the best scouts in the world & have the best scouting system in the world but if you don’t pay the wages they ain’t gonna come ,
It’s not rocket science .
You're telling me you won't pay the wages of young upcoming talents? That's bks. Fair enough you won't pay 150k+ a week for superstars, but talents coming from the Championship and any other top division will certainly not be on silly money, so they'd be affordable. Look at Leicester, players like Ricardo, Maddison and Ndidi aren't on more than 50k a week, yet they're some of the top players in the division which we've obtained through our good scouting network. It’s not rocket science .
