Play Matip and Gomez at centre back. Van Dijk can then play as a DM/pivot/assist/goal weapon while man marking Messi out of existence.
That's the worst idea in the history of football tactics.
Lol I'd have to agree, VvD is your defensive general, taking him out of that role to mark Messi would be suicide. Gomez might be a good shout, you need a terrier, someone whose going to hound and harass him all game.

I wasn't being serious, because it upsets the balance. But VvD would do a better job than Gomez for sure, you don't need a terrier when there's already a bulldog sat on your man.

BT Sport on youtube have the highlights of the Citeh game this morning - so very entertaining seeing RaHEEEEEM celebrating the "winning" goal before being shot down like the little worm he is.

Not that I'm bitter. hehe

Fair play to Poch last night - at the final whistle I think he outdid Klopp in his roaring celebrations...

Yep getting in the face of that tt ref and the final whistle last night are the two times where I've seen him get that emotional, probably been hanging around with Klopp too much. biggrin

I'll admit I haven't played much championship manager, but I'm sure Hodgson came up with worse.

I wouldn't do it against Barcelona, but I reckon Van Dijk at DM would work very well.
Fabinho did a pretty good job controlling Jorginho at the weekend.

The thing with Messi is that he is simply the best at what he does.

So you can have an amazing game against him and he'll still score two.

I believe we can beat them. I also believe they can beat us.

Don't think there is any point anyone person trying to outplay Messi. Cut off the supply, so simple isn't it smile

Which is what Fab did for the most part when Hazzard was through the middle. More difficult when he moved to the left.

If Messi plays his usual wide right, it’s going to put a lot of responsibility on Robertson and whoever plays left side of midfield for us.

Or someone who's actually a good DM, like Fab.

Alisson is officially number 1 next season.
Looks more like a Sensodyne advert tbh.
Milner referred to it as "the dentist's club night out" on Instagram laugh

That was my mates view the other night for United - shocking, be 100 quid for that too, I might sell my away for 800 and buy a home 1 hehe

Andrew Robertson: 11 assists

Trent Alexander-Arnold: 9 assists, 1 goal

Virgil van Dijk: 5 goals, 4 assists

Get you a defence that can do both beer
