Just watched the brief highlights from that game - he actually produced a worldie double save as well - I guess that sums up Mings though - worldie possible, cock up possible...https://twitter.com/lfcadxm/status/115418685252772...

Correct, we used to lose 6-10 points a season with him costing us games that he could have been brilliant inAlison got us 6-10 points this season - that is almost a 20 point swing changing keepers

Not sure that is true. Just Alisson made his mistakes in games it didn't matter. Alisson is a better keeper, but I think a lot is to do with VvD and the team setup.Alison got us 6-10 points this season - that is almost a 20 point swing changing keepers
It sounds ridiculous given he's been nominated for the Ballon D'or, but I still think people underestimate how good Alisson has been. No, he doesn't tend to make many acrobatic showstopping-fingertip saves, but that is just because his positioning is so good that most shots look like they're straight at him.
He's not been totally infallible, no, no goalkeeper is, but on the few occasions when he has made a mistake it hasn't affected his game, he holds his hands up to it and then gets right back to being one of the best keepers in the world. His level doesn't drop, and that mental fortitude is invaluable. Yes, he's got Van Dijk in front of him but you only need look at the 2nd leg of the Barca game and the UCL final itself (where I personally thought he should have been Man of the Match) to see he really does deserve the praise on his own merit.

You're reading something that I didn't say though. I said he is an improvement. But to say he is worth 20% of the points we got is a big statement, and one I think is wrong. Phil was the same - lots of predictions we'd lose a bunch of points, but in reality it was far less of a loss than expected.
Sorry if it sounded like I was singling you out, NRS, I wasn't specifically referring to your comments!
It was more a general statement about people who are either A) wumming, or B) blind, and still say all the shots he saves are straight at him, without taking a moment to consider why that may be the case.

I agree with this. It was more a general statement about people who are either A) wumming, or B) blind, and still say all the shots he saves are straight at him, without taking a moment to consider why that may be the case.
He seems to make everything look easy.
In a one on one situation he's the best Liverpool keeper I can remember (so since Clemence)

I said with what we used to lose a season in points to what he gained us is close to a 20 point turnaround with a change of keeper, that's fact Gassing Station | Football | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
