A lot of jealousy in this thread I'm afraid, if you were still 11th and not bothering winning anything I suspect it'd be a bit different.

PS. Let us Mahrez back. That goal reminded me of this.

It certainly was very similar thumbup great player. You must’ve been gutted to lose him. Imagine how Southampton fans must feel every time they have any quality players..... they must hate LFC. mad

Mahrez wasn’t very respectful to Leicester when he left was he?

This seems to be the big point always missed when discussing City, Chelsea, PSG. Liverpool winning it last year hurt more than any title City will ever win because Liverpool are a proper club and proper rivals.
Hahaha, of course they aren't laugh
What was the point?
Isn’t there a jokes thread for this kind of rubbish? Liverpool fans would love that to be true... thank fook it’s NOT. laugh

The current squad isn’t the one he “inherited”. He’s brought in players who had the potential to play his system. He’s then developed them to achieve this. He hasn’t been so stubborn to be unable to evolve his system.
He’s also managed to keep a lot of players happy (not all obviously) despite not necessarily being first choice.
If I owned a Ferrari then I’d employ the best mechanic with the best reputation and I think that’s what City’s owners have done IMO.
His handling of Foden alone shows he’s on a higher footballing level tan me. Most would have sent him out on loan to be developed.
The mans not perfect. If he was or it was easy if you have the money, we’d have won the CL by now.

Edit to add: not 100% sure but I think I’m right only Sterling wasn’t a Pep signing from the starting 11 last night.? (I didn’t count Foden but Pep has obviously been instrumental in his development)
Not really an inherited team!

he inherited the best squad in the league with sterling,KDB,Aguero Kompany and then spent fortunes so yes whilst he has rebuilt it wasn't like klopp buying really well ,it was like throwing money around and eventually hitting the jackpot, the current cost of your squad is around 1/4 of a billion more than the next most expensive squad.
Could he have won the title with say fergy's last team ?

Who do you think Liverpool winning the league for the first time in 30 years hurt exactly? Fergie? Did he think you’d got back on your ‘perch’!?.. Proper club? ... Proper rivals? Are you still in secondary school Cie?

Genuinely the most talented player I've ever seen in a Leicester shirt, ridiculous player. He was a bit of a dick prior to him leaving which soured the taste a bit, but still love him to bits. Basically we agreed he could leave in the summer of 2017 as long as we were paid the fee we wanted, but nobody met the fee. Same again in January 2018, we were both in discussions but yourselves wouldn't pay what we wanted (ruining football again with all your money!), so we said he couldn't leave. He then got the arse and stopped coming to training and stuff for a bit. It was all sorted next summer and in the end he left with our blessing as soon as you agreed to cough up what we wanted, I think we realised it was pointless keeping him for any longer, we were getting a decent amount of money, he wanted out anyway and he only had two years left on his contract at the time, his value would start to plummet if we kept him any longer.

Was part of the 2015-2016 team so will never be looked down upon by me. I genuinely thought he'd go on to be one of the leagues best players after his move, but he seems in and out of the team and I reckon his occasional lack of defensive duties mean that Pep doesn't always stick with him. Plus his personal life has been a bit all over the place in the last 18 months. You can guarantee he'll score against us when we play each other in April, he always bloody does.

Anyway, some of us have got the Europa League to win, must dash beer

I'm a United fan ya whopper

Liverpool winning the league hurt more than any of City's title wins, that's all I'm saying. Even with United not in the title race I still was looking for Liverpool dropping points any time I checked results lol, when City are going for the title I barely check. Empty club imo

The way you worded it made it sound like you were an LFC fan. At least you are actually from Manchester unlike most on your thread. Get watching your team instead of posting sh!te on this thread smile

Probably because the core of the success came from home grown players so it was never about just how much you can spend ,and if you don’t see an issue with the fact that it is virtually impossible long term to compete with a club with unlimited wealth (and one that breaks the rules to enable use of that wealth) then fine ,but look at the french league for where the premier league is heading .
Yes you might get someone to upset the applecart for a short period (Liverpool for example ) but those will be blips .

Give it 10 years and Man City will likely have a few academy graduates in and around the squad rather than just Foden.

You forget you were buying players for 15m in the 90s and players for 30m+ in the early 00s, when probably only one other team (Liverpool?) could compete with that sort of spending.

United spent big most seasons didn't they? They also cherry picked the best English players from other clubs. Its only been the past few years with the influx of TV money that "smaller" clubs have been able to say no to the bigger teams as they don't need the money as badly as they did in United's hey day

Honestly if you don’t see the difference then no point discussing further .

You're literally spending nearly as much as them every season in the PL, you have a record signing that is higher than theirs. It's just sour grapes because they've overtaken you and are actually winning things. You've been doing this to 90 other clubs for the past 20 years and now one has come along that can compete with you, which you don't like.
