Ha ha, History does go back further than the nineties you know, made it then, still making it today.
Being a Liverpool fan I am fully aware of that.
Nice to see your acknowledgement.
what? i have absolutely no idea what point you're trying to make.
I am aware that there is history prior to 1990 and that I am pleased the the poster recognises same.
As a Liverpool Fan my favourite part of football's pre 1990 history is c. 1964 - 1989 and I was surprised that this particular poster raised.

It wasn't a riddle.
yet you spout...... 'I know you'll never have the history or cache of the bigger clubs'

we'll see. the initial investment will be long forgotten if this turns out to be a long period of dominance. lots of things in football get forgotten.

It wasn't me posting on the City thread about jealousy.
Considering you lot have just won the unvigintuple or whatever you are all a bit touchy.

Anyway if we lose on Saturday I am supporting you lot next season.

I'm just listening to it now...

I really liked the XS Manchester City Football Social podcasts too but the City one has finished for good - if you've not heard them the last few in the season are well worth a listen biggrin

Next up...an exposé of every club's finances, particularly investments with links to the Middle East. Also the "surprising" connections between Chairmen, Directors and the companies that generate their income. <yawn>

I wonder if City's owners had been from the good ol' US of A, whether any of this bile would have arisen from other clubs?
It doesn't matter where the owners are from. Only the money that is being ploughed in.

I know there is no other way for Man City supporters to do so but it's funny when spending is mentioned or UEFA sanctions and the supporters just bury their heads into the sand.

'Our history won't be under criticism in 10 years time after we have won everything'

Man City aren't taken seriously. They play great football but they are nothing to be compared to in regards to Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal and never will be. It will always be remembered that you had a stload of money pumped in.

Will never even come close to the story of the class of 92 for example.

Pep Guardiola will never be compared to the likes of Ferguson, Shankly and Paisley purely because he went to clubs and spent 100s of millions.

It's a different world these days, there wasn't big money sloshing around in the seventies and eighties. Kevin Keegan was signed from Shorpe.

Regarding Fergie he spent huge amounts of money £33m for Ferdinand, a world record for a defender at that time and Rooney etc.

United would break the bank to have Pep as their manager, it's pathetic people say he's only any good because he has money to spend. It's all about motivation and will to win, Fergie is one of his biggest fans.

Fergie on Pep:-

“Man City have made a real coup in getting him but Pep won’t find it easy, English football is not easy. Pep will be a success but I don’t think he’ll ever replicate what he did at Barcelona because that was a high standard – they were the best.”
“You have to ask what the big clubs are going to do,” he added.
“If you take my time at United, when Chelsea and Jose came on the scene, in the first two years they had quick starts, so I had to accept that challenge.
“That’s what you have to do when you’re a big club. Arsenal, Liverpool and the other clubs have to accept the challenge when they are not good enough.
“They’ll have their own ambitions and will be desperate to win the league next season as much as City, so Pep there is not a guarantee they can win the league.

He's a brilliant manager don't get me wrong but other than his early days with Barca, he will always be known by someone who went to teams that were already competing for titles then spending millions more to improve them.

I loved him before he went to yourselves. Read his biography etc Went to see his Barcelona play.

Fergie also thought David Moyes was his natural successor to bring to Man U.

Amazing manager but a st judge of managers hehe

Ah, I see, you are pushing the mythical history of Man Utd and Liverpool. Their sustained periods of success were nothing to do with stloads of money being pumped in.

The record books will simply contain the match results, scorers and number of trophies won by each club. There won't be an asterisk next to Man City with "it's not fair they had investment" next to it. Unless David Gill changes the rules.

said it before, but always ignored. the number of 0s has changed, but the 'doping' has always gone on. liverpool, arsenal, manyoo, blackburn, and especially the likes of real madrid. city have upped the ante, that's all. city's record signing is £60m, and nobody is being paid a sanchez salary.

Spot on. And the other thing that has changed is the accountability. In the days before the internet and globalisation is was nigh on impossible to get the company records from the likes of Liverpool and back then the FA and UEFA weren't really interested in how a club was being financed. So clubs like Liverpool just ran themselves as they wanted and nobody knew or cared,

It's pretty sad that there are people on this forum who just perpetually talk about the same thing (usually Liverpool fans) - moaning that a bigger sugardaddy, than their sugardaddy ever was, is 'ruining' football and won't be remembered fondly. All in an effort to somehow dismiss the current record books and maintain their stance that, actually, when their club was winning stuff it was somehow different.

More YAWN than YNWA.

All this talk of Sheikh Mansour and his input is getting boring now, it's old news, other leading clubs have billionaire owners, both here and overseas.

Can we move on and talk about actual football.

Fair play, Wacky, it’s becoming a little tedious.

Speaking of actual football who will the Citeh fans be supporting in tomorrow’s big game?

I won't be supporting anybody, but will be pleased for Klopp if Liverpool win because he deserves a trophy, and he seems like a genuine nice guy.

That's a load of bks. Utd and Liverpool have been spending serious money for 40 years. Yes things such as the class of 92 may never be replicated, but this Man City team has absolutely smashed the highest points record, something which the other clubs couldn't achieve. Pep is a brilliant manager, lets not forget how bad the Man City team was in his first season. We always hear of supporters complaining about a lack of new signings in a position that they obviously need to strength, but Pep went straight out and bought the goalkeeper and full backs needed in order to win them the league.

It's 'Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan bin Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan' to you. smile

I'll probably go for Liverpool - Klopp is a likeable madman and his teams play attractive football.
