The older ones among us still expect City to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
It’s a deep rooted fear I don’t think I’ll ever be able to shake off
like time wasting against liverpool in '96 when we actually needed a goal to stay up. people wonder where 'typical city' came from….It’s a deep rooted fear I don’t think I’ll ever be able to shake off

My first game at Maine Road v Blackpool in 1961, I've seen plenty of st over the years.
Nothing City do would surprise me
I was born in 1961 in Blackpool, became a city fan in 69.Nothing City do would surprise me
If we had not moved to Manchester, if I had not been hit by a car, if I had not been in Withington Hostpital and apparently met Mike Summerbee I may have been a life Blackpool fan.

Wtf is VAR there for? I was quite enjoying this match but that’s spoiled it.
Just need to add, it’s not spoiled because City got a goal. It’s because the penalty decision was wrong. The balance of the game can change now because if it got to the hour mark still level, both teams would be jittery.

Doesn't matter if you get the ball (first or not), you can't take the player out at the same time.
Err, what? That definitely can’t be correct. If you get the ball first, it’s perfectly acceptable to trip the opponent afterwards else how on earth is a classic slide-tackle still legal? As we’ve said already, if you’re out of control or use excessive force, it matters not whether you got the ball before hurting someone but in this case it wasn’t dangerous.
Just glad it didn’t lead to SU pushing up and getting caught because they were a goal down, they were still playing their game the same way at that stage.

I’m afraid that it’s been a thing for a long time…yes, you can get the ball first and as long as that touch clears it away from the opponent then your follow through can connect (subject to excessive force etc as you say). However, if your touch doesn’t move the ball far enough such that the opponent could still have recovered the ball then “taking the opponent out” after touching the ball is a foul. Life was so much simpler when you could shout “but he got the ball” but…As we’ve said already, if you’re out of control or use excessive force, it matters not whether you got the ball before hurting someone but in this case it wasn’t dangerous.

(I should add that I’ve not seen the incident so you could still be right…just trying the clarify the law).
