Probably the hardest draw but at least Liverpool have gone. They were the only team that really concerned me tbh.
A possible repeat of last years final?

Not sure about that. I tuned in halfway through the first half of Chelsea's match and couldn't believe how rubbish they were against very average opposition.

Grealish is so poor on the ball - no wonder Pep was having a word at the end …

But Doku is worse! Poor game really …

Agree. In general I’m not sure what Pep said to them. We’re not prepared to risk anything, sideways, backwards passes.
Was there a shot on target? Poor advert for the Premiership from “supposedly” two of the best teams.
Garbage

got very bored of watching the back 4 do drag-backs and slowing it down further.

Ponderous at best. Whatever happened to hitting on the break, or shooting from outside the box.
could that be it??

Alvarez would have got the nod before Grealish for me … such a clever footballer … he can unlock those defences. Grealish slows it down too much, it should be out of his feet and over. Seems his job is to come back inside, then lay it off …

'over' doesn't work for city. much more effective if the ball is cut back from the byline. haaland is a really poor header of the ball for a biggun'

arsenal parked the bus and pep thought they would be more expansive hence 2 DMs. way too cautious.

Normal crosses don’t work I know, I’m thinking more of the ball flashed at high speed and low level across the six yard box … results in plenty of goals for teams who don’t play the recycle-the-ball-relentlessly game …

normally does for city, but arsenal parked the bus with quality players and pep set up too cautiously. normally someone defending would drop a clanger which presents a good chance due to the relentless pressure. didn't happen today.

The thing is he used to be direct at Villa and attack the full back. Pep doesn’t want him to do that.

So what does Pep want him to do - cos if it ain’t run at the full-back, he could have saved £100m - plenty of others can slow the game to walking pace, then either pass inside or back or fall over when tackled …

he was one of the key players when it came to the crunch winning the treble. can't really argue with that.

At lunchtime I wondered if I really wanted to make a 200mile round trip today. Was it worth it? Was it ****!
A lot of possession but no cutting edge. Doku hâs no end product. Haaland was struggling to head the ball. Ortega may be a great 2nd keeper but his distribution is slow and no where near as accurate as Eddies.
The ref should have dished out a few more cards, much earlier, imo.
0-0 was a fair result. Neither team deserved more.

totally agree with you about the ref. should have dished out yellows for cynical fouls and time wasting. not the reason the game was such a bore fest mind you.

Oh I agree. Seems to be wasted this season.

Pep wants them to dominate possession, recycle the ball and wait for the perfect time to strike and score.
