996 GT3 tyre options
Discussion
I would recommend the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S, which has won multiple tests and is meant to be THE fast road / occasional track day tyre.
Alternatively, Goodyear has just come out with its new high performance range and, for what you’re looking for, I’d go with the Eagle F1 SuperSport.
If you want to go more hardcore then the equivalents are Pilot Sport Cup 2 or Eagle F1 SuperSport R.
Another good option is the Pirelli P Zero Corsa.

Time for new boots for the GT3. Looking for opinions and feedback on current tyre options for the 996. My usage is 3 or 4 track days each year with otherwise mainly dry (B road) use. Currently have Michelin PS2 fitted.
Hello twin!Similar usage, I went with Cup 2. Blackcircles often offer Michelin 10% discount so worth googling. I paid £835 fitted in February.
Im running Michelin Supersports on mine though im all road. Yes i had to go up a size
SS are meant to have a stiffer sidewall than the PS4S, which as pointed out dont come in our size. Im not a fan of the SS tbh as find the sidewall to soft compared to the PS2's (when i had them) but there doesnt seem to be much out there for us

IMV, Cup 2 all day long. Work in all conditions and both road and track.
However if puddles of standing water and temps below 7 degrees then proceed with due caution - which you will be doing in any case whatever tyre was on the car.
There i was thinking you could drive....However if puddles of standing water and temps below 7 degrees then proceed with due caution - which you will be doing in any case whatever tyre was on the car.

Cup 2s ordered. Any advice on tyre pressures for road and separately, track?
28 psi all round hot pressures on circuit (Assuming you've got decent geo which works the tyre). Road, whatever it says on teh drivers door shut card and then adjust to your own preference of feel by 1 psi or so.lemmingjames said:

Michelin advise not to run under 29psi hot and between 33-36psi hot.
The recommended hot pressure has always seemed on the high side ime and it's felt much better on the low side of their range. I've generally tried to run at 2.2 bar (whatever that is in PSI, 32 i think) hot all round on track although had recently tried matching the recommended road pressures (ie 0.2-0.3 lower front than rear) per suggestion from lasource while hot on the 7rs which seemed to work pretty well too.isaldiri said:
