Hopefully it will be better come the new season, Gadge. A lot of people still have loads on their plate & it still doesn't really feel like the football season despite it being on the TV every night. Thanks again for all your hard work on this. I'm sure things will be different when football comes home properly.

I’d be up for that. It would have to be a sum that doesn’t put people off playing though. It’s a worry that any sum might do that. But in principle I’m on board. You’d have to put the question out there and see who responds positively and who doesn’t to guage whether it would work.
But a good question trying to address an annual problem. I’d hoped that the threat of relegation would sort it out.

Not sure I'd be in it if there was a charge with prizes just for the end of the season.
Maybe have something like a £20 fee payable at the start and have prizes through the season (Maybe for game week 5 , 10, 15 etc and one for the final result).
Most people have been at or near the top in given weeks so I think this might be more attractive to all players rather then the one with a chance of finishing in top 3.
This should keep interest throughout .
and maybe get Gadge a scarf for running it
That's a good shout too, although would it be a lot of extra work or can it be calculated easily via your spreadsheet? Maybe have something like a £20 fee payable at the start and have prizes through the season (Maybe for game week 5 , 10, 15 etc and one for the final result).

I'm sure I could set the spreadsheet to

Thanks Gadgetmac for doing the Thon this year. Once again it's a great thread, good fun and lacks the idiocy of some of the other football threads. It seems that it's ok to make fun of yourself and others on this thread and it be taken in good jest.
Congrats to Gadget who barring a miracle will win and is close enough to the record of 364 points which was set in the first season, so good luck in getting the points you need to beat that.
It looks like it's all going on in the Glover household with Mart being beaten by 1 of his sons (alternative log-ins ) so whats left of the summer could be awkward there.
Great job to those who made it to the end and thanks again Gadgetmac as without you this would not be happening
I don't like doing this until the final day is over but similarly don't like not responding to posts in a timely fashion either.Congrats to Gadget who barring a miracle will win and is close enough to the record of 364 points which was set in the first season, so good luck in getting the points you need to beat that.

Firstly, Thanks for all of your comments, they are very much appreciated.
Secondly I have no chance of catching the record of 364 points. 16 points is too tough a demand from one match day. I'm not too upset as I've had a look back and appear to be the first person to retain the title so that's nice. I've also won it 3 of the last 5 times which again is nice and equals your own record back when it was much easier to win it
Of course this game is all about a little bit of luck mixed in with some small analysis of form. Without the luck you are screwed though....the season I put the most effort into it I came well down the league
The other night I had Wolves to beat Burnley at Burnley 1-0 which they were doing until the 95th fecking minute when Burnley got awarded a penalty - thus turning my 4 points into 0 points. I was sooooo pissed off.
I shouldn't talk as if I've already won it though as it would just be fate for Dan or Mick to score 23 points and me score none this Sunday now.
There are some great individual battles going on elsewhere in the table for the various European spots not to mention personal rivalries. Good luck guys!

Come on Gadge.... make it interesting... accidentally forget to post your results
But yes to add to the above, thanks again for running.
Don't have too long a holiday, rumour has it we'll be back at it in a couple of weeks time!

Given that Gadge doesn't really like responding to these "thank you" posts unless someone posts one, I'd better add my thanks too.
Thanks GM. Cant imagine what it's like not being the best at this even in your own household GloverMart said:
From briefly doing a World Cup 2018 Predictathon with my "Ye Olde Spreadsheet" workings, I know there's a lot of work going in to running these things. The WC one was very intense for a month but only 64 matches yet this one is 380 games over a whole year involving 20,19,18,17,16,15 14 players.
After the heady heights of previous years, looks like I'm not even going to be top dog in my house which, considering I live alone, is devastating for my morale! Just waiting for Saturday when I put my predictions up and GloverRyan copies them like for like so I can't win. Hey-ho, it's the taking part that counts.
On a serious note, thanks a million for running it this year Gadge and look forward to another competition next year, well, in about six weeks time then.
